next Thanksgiving reservation -HOW?

I want to book Thanksgiving reservations at my home resort at the 11 month window. Since that (11 months before) will be a weekend and Christmas Day, do I book the day before the weekend (Dec. 22) or wait till after Christmas? Is member services open the day after Christmas? Should I book on-line? Please help!

On December 22 you would only be able to book that portion of your stay until check out on November 22, 2007. You would have to call MS the next day they're open to book the remainder of your days.

At this point, MS is open on Saturdays for a few hours, but I'm not sure they would be open on that Saturday which is December 23.

I don't know MS holiday schedules, but I think they are open December 26 which is a Tuesday this year.

I'll bet they know their holiday schedule and you could ask them now. But realistically, there's nothing you could do with that information until much closer to the booking window dates.

What is your home resort and what type of room are you looking for? For example; if it's the BWV and you want a standard view room, you should call every day for Thanksgiving time. If you want almost any other room type (but not all) you can wait until the day after Christmas and call in the whole reservation at once.

On your vacation planner calendar there is a list of days that MS is closed. Memorizing the list is an important step in a member realizing her/his full DVC geek potential.

Unless you are looking for something specific, you wouldn't need to stress so much about Thanksgiving to get what you want. I called last summer, began with one night, and wound up with my 7 night stay! Admittedly, Thanksgiving came through exactly 31 days before our arrival on Thanksgiving Day. That's a bit too close for comfort, but calling within a day or two within your 11 month window should be sufficient to get whatever you are looking for, as long as it's not a GV or a standard view.
