In the poll posted by ricapito, it seems that the Eagle Pines or golf-themed resort did not fare well, but resort based future DVC's like Contemporary and AKL did well. This might, on the surface seem to indicate that these are more likely future spots if Disney has done their marketing research with any level of competence. However, this survey is most likely skewed. There is no DVC with a golf theme currently, and, perhaps, that theme would bring in a whole marketing niche that has not been tapped with the current resorts. The market segment that would find this theme appealing are probably (from a look at the results) not represented by the current DVC that also frequent these boards.

However, I think most would agree that a DVC at Disneyland would tap a market that has been ignored for a long time for whatever reason. Maybe Eagle Pines will be the next DVC?

Don't forget that Lake Buena Vista Golf Club has its clubhouse at SSR if I'm correct...so its a quasi benefit of SSR..

But, has the golf theme really been pushed in the marketing of SSR? I took the tour in December and was completely unaware that there was any golf connection whatsoever. JMHO.....

I agree with you. If you look beneath the surface, you will notice that Disney added the ESPN Golf schools to their brand a while back. Talk about a marketing dream to combine a resort with an ESPN themed school.

But EP still doesn't follow what Disney has been very successful at the last few times out with a DVC product. That is using existing infastructure to create the new DVC resort. Using that model, the Villas at the Contemporary fit perfectly.

I am not saying that Disney hasn't marketed golf, remember the commercials where the "guys" are at another theme park together but they are really at the golf course.... But, a golf-themed resort complex has not been attempted by Disney and would give serious competition to the Nick Faldo institute over at the Marriott Grande Vista.

OKW when it was DVC was a "golf" destination.

but they found out that the people buying DVC on the whole wanted DISNEY not golf.

WDW listens to its customer.

I agree that a golf theme would probably do very very well. It is amazing how often, frequently, and methodically golfers vacation. Look at the Myrtle Beach area, every year this place pulls them in.

I do not agree though Disney has marketed golf, maybe a bit but no where near what they could. I dont think its high on their list because they could have really pushed to market SSR for golfers.
