Next DVC resort?

D23 at Coronado made me think man that resort has it all: Great pool, variety of good dining, nice theming, wide variety of accommodations including a club level, and its large. BUT the casitas have those moderate exterior (walk in front of the room) hallways and the tower has no balconies. Could be a nice DVC property but might need too much of a renovation to pull it off.

Just grabbing Yacht Club and calling it a day at that whole resort complex might be the easiest move and it would sell lightning fast.

At some point, how many new resorts can one build? I think entire new deluxe resorts on vacant land might be on hold until they finally look to build another park in 10-20 years.

Of course a few years back they did file a permit to build an Epcot resort behind future world or whatever it’s now called. So maybe that?

I stayed at Destino tower a couple years ago and if you take away the casitas and put it in a good location, it's definitely deluxe. We really loved our stay there even though it was only for a couple days.

I feel like they are starting to run out of real estate near their current parks aside from Animal Kingdom. It would be a pretty big slap in the face though to give walking distance to another hotel besides Animal Kingdom Lodge but idk..

I mean they kind of started in Canada.. 1 room down, 299 to go!

That would make me rethink some of my MK points

I am all for them converting some YC to DVC and as a BCV owner I would definitely add on points there. But if they added a tower to either BC or YC they would absolutely kill Stormalong Bay. It's almost too crowded with the rooms they have now, I cannot imagine if they added a whole new tower of guests.

If they locked me out of SAB as a YC owner I wouldn't even mind, just give me walking access to IG for the next 50 years and I'm good

If they'd ever expand the Skyliner, they could expand along a route to Disney Springs with another stand-alone tower. I'd be thrilled if they went Grand Destino direction and zhuzhed-up the casitas like how they're doing the CFW. If you knew going into Grand Destino/Casitas you had all the different styles of rooms as options, plus buses and Skyliner, plus it's right next to BB, there's selling points to that.

I could definitely see something built adjacent to Villains in the back entrance of the park, but considering how slow they are to build that, I am assuming that's at least a decade away.

We just got back from a Poly tower stay, and they managed to cram a tower and pool and on-site restaurant in there, so lack of land doesn't seem to be an issue. I think they need to work on the infrastructure of it all for moving folks around, whether it's finally a walking path from AKJ/AKK to AK, doing something with the monorail (limiting access to resort guests and busing/trams for day guests,) Skyliner everywhere, train for Fort Wilderness, way more boats -- I just think reconfiguring the logistics to handle peak crowds is needed. I'm actually VERY impressed by their busing system. I think it's just getting better and better, honestly.

If they'd expand the hours of MK, since they're developing every square inch along the perimeter and it's always going to be the focus of all the crowds, satisfaction scores would go up and they could fight against the "too expensive" mantra. DVC extra hours is a fantastic perk, IMO, and you can get a lot done from 9-11 p.m. If they did a better job rotating the extra hours with the parks each day, i.e., Monday is Epcot, Tuesday is Animal Kingdom, Wednesday is MK, Thursday is HS, and throw in a Sunday maybe during party season or something, spread it out.

Basically, they can keep shoving resorts in all over the place IF they get the infrastructure right. Plan for Ubers, EV charging, parking maybe underground like at Kidani, feature pools, destination dining at the resorts, and folks will buy points anywhere on WDW property. Look at everyone on these boards! Many have large quantities of points, bemoan the changing times and degradation of the experience compared to when they bought in -- but then are ready to drop thousands at BW/BC 2.0, LSL, and even CFW if they would figure out the dues/trust situation.

The overcrowding of a resort’s main pool when more rooms are added is an important point. The only resort additions that understood this were the Contemporary and Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Polynesian main pool was overcrowded to begin with. Adding quiet pools with major expansions doesn’t solve the problem. Overcrowded main pools detract from a resort experience big time. Adding rooms to Yacht and Beach would really hurt the resort’s quality.

Aulani is a success story. Just not the one they predicted. Sold plenty of DVC AND it’s a white hot cash stay resort as well.

It's tough making a decision without knowing DVC's future plans! I think I am going to get more resale VGF, but if a walkable Epcot DVC was announced I would probably flip the resale VGF points and buy the Epcot resort direct

PVB IT points aren't going anywhere. I know you've mentioned you're a fan of tower resorts. Do you think you'd prefer LSL? Or do you want home resort advantage at a monorail resort? PVB deluxe studios are pretty easy to swap into outside of early Dec.

The cabins just have such a specific audience…family with kids old enough not to need frequent laundry but young enough to share cramped bedroom with parents. ;-) I guess there’s others the cabins would work for, but ideally you have to have a vehicle, not really need good laundry access, and not mind a queen bed as the main bed.

Gee, I wonder why it’s not selling?

I love the idea of the cabins, but the no laundry and no king bed is a deal-breaker for us. Hopefully Lakeshore will fit our needs better, even if it does kill the Fort’s vibe a bit.

If my own data for CFW is correct, they just had their best month of points showing up on the county comptroller. Not up to good sales levels, but it's still nice to see DVD decided to help it (mid-July) for the first time in 1.5 years of sales.

I had a loss of data, so had to start from scratch. Only have August data right now.
Also, I didn't perform a double check of the county records that I usually do.
