Here's my just for fun question...

What would be the next themed ride you would add to WDW. Any park....any theme.

Also...after Exp. Everest is completed...does anybody know what the next big ride/attraction is supposed to be?

Just curious :) .

Oh...and my answer is...I would love to see a new World Showcase Pavillion. OR...a new ride to an existing pavillion. Would love to see something really cool in the Canada area, discussions on another board about a possible flume ride came up. That would be very cool. :smooth:

Oh Boy, rumor time.... :cool1:

Well not really. But at one time there was a rumor of them building the 4th 'mountain' at MK. It was to be named Fire Mountain and would be located in the area previously used by 20,000 leagues. (The other 3 mountains at MK are of course, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain.

I personally think Fire Mountain got re-themed and moved to AK and is being constructed as Expedition Everest. But that's just a total guess on my part and strictly based from an engineering standpoint. Fire Mountain was rumored to be a roller coaster in a volcanic setting. If advanced work was ever done on such a project, and it was decided later that AK needed a thrill ride to help attendance, changing the volcanic setting to a cold 'Everest' setting and just moving the project to AK would make a lot of sense on Disney's part by being able to utilize a lot or previous engineering design work. But repeating, I have no basis if that actually happened or is pure speculation.

Don't know about the 'next' big ride. They're doing quite a bit this year and next as it is: Stunt Show at MGM, Soarin' at Epcot, EE at AK. Not to mention the newest additions such as Mission Space at Epcot, and the 'carnival' area to AK.

I would love to see a whole new 5th Gate. It's be great if they brought over "Disney Seas" from Japan.

Oooohhhh....DisneySeas would be great :). I agree!

We can dream...and create rumors ;).

Me too. I'd love to see a real African pavillion, or even better...Australia!

Or redo the U.S. pavillion. I can't believe with this beautiful country we don't have a 360 movie instead of the junk we have now.

I'd actually be just as happy if they eliminated the "rides" in the World Showcase and focused more on the scenery, history, food, and culture of the countries. I like the "O Canada" movie very much (one of my favorites), but I have read recent posts from Canadians who don't think it represents today's Canada as well as they'd like.

I think a new park in Virginia -- closer to where I live -- would be FANTASTIC. With a fabulous DVC resort on site!!

After seeing Monsters Inc we thought it would be really good to have a ride where you hung off the doors like on the conveyor belt that Sully, Mike and Boo rode on. A kind of roller coaster ride type thing.

JimMIA that would be me with the comment on the film in Canada's pavilion I was talking to my wife last night about it after I got home from work and she thinks it should stay just as it is as she says it shows what canada's history is all about who am I to argue with her on that one. As for a new attraction I would like to see the return of Horizons.

Instead of a new ride, I'd like to see a "rehab" of Epcot (duh). Put Imagination & Living Seas back to the way they were; do something a bit more exciting (not necessarily a thrill ride) with Energy and spiff up Innoventions. A new country at WS would be nice; one idea I've had is a "rotating pavillion", where a new/different country would be put in place once a year (two years?). Granted, the general architecture couldn't be as striking as Mexico, China, etc., but with a minimum of money and effort, a country could make it seem like "home".

I'll climb on board one of the popular rumors circulating...I'd like to see the Indiana Jones ride from DL replace the stunt show at MGM.

Beyond that, AK could obviously use something else--maybe a non-thrill dark ride?

Epcot: Ah, where to begin??? I guess the WoL pavilion would be the first project since it's all but closed now. Another country in the WS would be nice, too.

MK: Another of the hot rumors is a new attraction in the Timekeeper location, but I really wish they would invest more in the other parks before MK. There's already so much to do.

Actually, it's already there, at AK. It's the dinosaur ride. My understanding is it's the same track, cars, mechanisms of operation. Obviously the theme is totally different, and of course they can change the computers so the ride doesn't 'feel' the same.

I agree though, the version in DL is a lot more fun to ride than the one at AK.

Although, another fair question is, will the Indiana Jones Stunt show remain at MGM once the new Lights Camera Action Stunt show opens up?

Epcot: How about we just bring back the "Tapestry of Nations" parade? I'd be a happy girl.

OMG yes!!! And that's an easy one! I totally agree...we miss that parade (sniff).

I go along with that as well. That was a great parade.

Then you have an advantage over me. :) I have read that it is the same track layout and so forth, but all I ever see are glowing reviews of the DL ride.

As I alluded to in my post, the popular belief seems to be that the IJ dark ride would be a logical replacement for the stunt show. My understanding is that Disney's has a very reasonably-priced licensing agreement for the "Indiana Jones" name and characters (I've read it is only $1 mil annually), so it makes sense to keep IJ name in the parks. But the stunt show is just so dated at this point.

We don't visit during the busiest periods, but it's been a long time since I've seen the theater more than 1/2 to 1/3 full.

I've ridden both several times, so can only give my impression.

To me, it's all in the theming. Dinosaur is in the dark a lot, and when not in the dark, everything is still fairly closed in, almost like being in a cavern all the time.

IJ at DL is much more open. More of driving on an old road. There's a spot where you cross a rickety bridge and can see quite a big in all directions.

Obviously the music is different, and the narration is different. And even though it's the same track, I think the movement of the cars is programmed different.

Also, changing attractions, and again just MHO, I think ToT at WDW MGM is much better than ToT at C.A. The main difference is that in California the elevator just goes up, then falls again in the same shaft. The cars do not leave the rear shaft and move to the front shaft like they do in WDW.

Also I think Pirates is better at DL than the one at WDW. And Small World at DL is better than the WDW one, but that's mostly because of the outside of it and loading areas.

I expect Soarin' to be an exact duplicate of the California version.

I think Disney shoudl aquire the rights to Harry Potter and have a combination roller coaster and haunted house with different things from the movies.

IMHO, Dinosaur is a tremendous waste of the IJ ride technology. I've been on IJ at DL, and it is one of the greats - total immersion in an environment, physically & mentally. I belive that they could do Dinosaur by simply taking a BodyWars simulator, ripping off the top and sides and bouncing people around in the dark.

I'd vote to put the IJ ride where the IJ stunt show is - and it would be great marketing synergy if they ever start filming Indy IV!
