I know DVC currently has the 199. ticket deal. Which I think is a terrible deal for my family. For those who can benefit, I am glad DVC has came up with something. My next trip won't be until May or June of 2016. I will be looking at AP once again. I am dreaming of the next AP deal. I know the 399/person will never happen again. But one can dream……I was actually thinking that they will bring back the 18month deal…Any thoughts……….

Of course, no one knows for sure.

I'm not looking for anything new until at least after the annual passes from the last deal expire - so my guess is late 2015 - early 2016 at the earliest.

I'd love the $399 PAP deal again. :)

Last week I sent DVC an email (via the DVC website) regarding annual passes. My email was to comment about the inconsistent discounts for annual passes at WDW verses DLR (currently DVC members can get nearly $150 off annual passes at WDW but only $20 at DLR). As much as I enjoy visiting WDW I live in Southern California and visit DLR and DCA as often as I can so I thought it would be great if owners that want DLR annual passes could get a similar consistent discount as well. Today I received a call from DVC stating they have no news about additional annual pass discounts for DVC members but they appreciate my email so that they can forward to the powers that be to explain what DVC members are asking for. I encourage all DVC members to visit the DVC website and scroll to the bottom of the page to make similar comments about annual passes if you feel the same way I do.

I'm betting that another PAP offer (but not as heavily discounted as the $399 one) will roll out after the option to purchase the 'special' DVC ticket offer expires.

Would like to see a promo start February '15, but thinking more likely for last quarter of '15.

next;)

Good idea. Will do!

I cannot understand why they are so inconsistent with the AP discounts. If the offer was continuously up, guides could use it as a selling point. As it is, I don't understand what's used for: make someone (who already purchased) happy and someone else very angry?

the main AP discount has been consistent but none of these perks are guaranteed. i would rather have a random 4-day/4-park ticket discount than nothing at all...

There is a constant AP/PAP discount - right now $146 off I believe. The specials are for PAP's, usually around the price for an AP. Since I usually don't do water parks and there is no longer an additional discount for merchandise with a PAP, it doesn't matter much to me if they offer the PAP special.

Like most big companies, individual divisions don't have the authority to step into other people's turf and dictate policy.

DVC has to work with executives at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland to put together perk programs. The reality is that Disneyland execs will simply not allow members to save more money on passes.

Feedback helps because it gives DVC ammo to use in those negotiations. But DVC itself has no authority to change that policy. They'd like nothing more than to give owners free theme park admission...it would certainly increase point sales. However it's just not their call.

Like others have said, a standard AP discount has been offered for 10 years now.

The limited-time discounts are probably designed to prompt impulse decisions. People become jaded with the status quo. Even in terms of WDW ticket discounts. For many years the DVC AP discount was $100 off regular price...later it went up to $150 off. But over time the general response became "yeah but what have you done for me lately?"

In response, DVC has introduced a number of limited-time discounts and perks.

Since DVC only has 50 rooms at DL, I don't think they have much leverage for a larger discount. DL is mostly a local market. They stopped selling some Southern CA AP's because they were making the parks too crowded.

You nailed it.

I've had several very lengthy conversations over the years with CMs at Member Satisfaction about the lack of ticket discounts available to DVC members. Always get the same (circular) story.

As was stated above, DVC has to negotiate any deals or perks with whatever other Disney department is responsible for them. The story I've gotten, several times so I bet it's the official "script CMs have to use on this topic, is because DVC is so small in DLR, they can't negotiate discounts like they can at WDW where a lot more DVC members visit.

OK, I said. How about maybe deciding on whether the VGC has been a success, and maybe building more DVC rooms at DLR. That would increase our presence, and according to the story line, increase DVC's ability to negotiate better (or any) ticket discounts.

I was told VGC was a test for DVC at DLR and they haven't decided whether it was successful enough to warrant more DVC rooms, or another DVC resort.

So there we have some nice circular logic. Not enough DVC members visit DLR to warrant ticket discounts, but no additional DVC rooms in the offing because Disney can't decide if VGC is a success.

Meanwhile, what you state is true about DLR in general wanting to cut down on APs anyway. Two years ago they raised the price tremendously. This year they cut back on the options of APs they sell.

When you go to DLR it's so obvious how the AP dates drive the crowds. First, pick a day when most are blacked out and the parks are great all day long. Pick the wrong day, when all APs are honored, and be ready for the crowds. Second, the crowds show up, on just about any day, late morning/early afternoon. These are locals getting to the park for a few hours, not maniacal park commandos like so many on vacation at WDW.

I had recommended they do a length of stay park discount ticket for DVC at DLR. Maybe that would even help keep more people in the parks rather than visiting other SoCal attractions. But they don't need to do anything - the crowds keep coming, seemingly no matter how high the ticket prices.

We have been lucky. While our son lives in SoCal and is a DLR AP holder, we are in AZ and are not. Luckily, we have found some great discounts associated with the (increasing) number of races at DLR. They are only good for that calendar year (I think they expire right before the Christmas season), and if you happen to be going when there's a race there (I think they also have such deals for other events, like Gay Days), you don't have to be participating (but I think you have to pick them up in person during the event) - they are good for friends as well. This is how we get our tickets. We do a lot of the races anyway, but we also get extras for a visit we like to make when there are no races. But we have the discounted tickets.

I agree with all of your comments above. Nevertheless, I would encourage all DVC members that want to have a similar AP discount at DLR just like at WDW to please log onto their DVC accounts, scroll to the bottom of the main page and submit your comments. Let's get our comments heard.
