Newsletters, and random question!

Hi everyone

I know our wedding isn't for another three years, but I've decided to do a yearly newsletter between now and then, but wanted to do it a little differently - as a photobook.

I've decided (see that... I'VE!!) that we're going to have an engagement photo shoot early next year, then use the pictures from that to create the first book, along with other pics of course.

There is so much information we can include in the news letter, but three years out I want to inform, yet not overload.

I was thinking of a few features:
Preliminary details of the actual day
Why Disney
Other things to do in Florida other than theme parks
What a Disney vacation can offer (briefly about DDP)

Can anyone else think of things I could tell them this early in the piece?

In the next edition I was going to cover different hotel choices, flight and airport options, resturants and more in depth about the dining plan, menswear rental and dress steaming, possible hair and makeup options etc etc (we will have people travelling from the UK and from Australia so want to make it as easy as possible).

Final edition will be after everything is booked with DFTW so we can give them correct locations, times etc.

And for the random question - are 18 yr olds allowed into Jellyrolls if they're not drinking?? When we get married DF's kids will be 21 and 18, the 18 yr old being the youngest guest (unless my sister has a baby within that time!) Would the 18 yr old be allowed to join us for a party type thing before the wedding? I don't know how US/Florida law works!

As an author and editor of Disney guidebooks, I can tell you that soooooo much will change between that Year 2 newsletter and the Wedding Year newsletter that you might want to hold off on the more specific details until you're within a year of the event.

In the meantime, you might consider pointing your guests to existing resources for the more general Disney info (maybe even WDW websites and guidebooks geared specifically toward UK tourists) so that you don't have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. That way your newsletter photo books could focus on the photos and info about you as a couple.

the constant at disney is change, change, change (especially in california).
I would say the best thing to add would be a timeline and deadline time for plane tickets and room reservations and any important contacts they need for discounts or just in general.
another thing i would add would be things that you enjoy about disney, i know that most of the people i know start to understand why i want to have my life surrounded by disney when i explain all the things that make me so happy about it. like favorite ride, pictures when you were a kid with disney stuff or at the parks, and firsts at disney.

Lurky - i'm the proud owner of your book and have read it cover to cover 4 times now!

I wasn't going to go into any actual detail, not even about which venues we were planning or anything at all - just more why we have chosen Disney and why we would love for them to join us even tho there is a lot of travel and cost involved for them - maybe i'm just trying to justify myself and our decision!

I won't be reveiling any plans of the actual day until we have our date and everything confirmed by DFTW - 8 months before the date as things stand today
