Okay, NO IDEA if this is true to rumor, but I just read on another site that Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is not returning. Rather, that location is going to be the new Disney Gallery.

Again, just passing along something I read. No idea how valid this is.

Interesting though...

Not to be confused with Al Lutz's RUMOR from 11/18/08: :earsboy:

Abe & Barack

For Disneyland's 55th anniversary ... Mr. Lincoln is now planned to return to the Disneyland Opera House in time for the 55th. ...

... The curtain would rise on the familiar Abraham Lincoln figure, who would give a stirring speech before introducing the nation's first president, George Washington who would also say a few words.

... George Washington would then cut to the chase and introduce the current president, which would be Barack Obama ...

That seems a bit odd to me. The theater is really large and I can't imagine them needing that much space! Maybe they should just use more of the front area for the gallery. I mean they already have some things tucked over there.

I wish they would bring back Walt's Office replica, and Mr Lincoln, and that is from someone who loves the Gallery.

Yes, in Al Lutz's article he says that there would be fewer seats than the previous show...

"Even though this new Lincoln presentation will be shorter and more compelling, even Tony Baxter knows that the hundreds of seats installed in 1965 are a bit of overkill regardless of how good the Imagineers make the robotic president."

Of course, it's still only a RUMOR... :earsboy:

where is the theater?

In the Opera House. Right now where the 50 First Years show is.

From what I'm hearing is that the Abe Lincoln rumor reported by Al Lutz was confirmed false by Disney, or atleast the Obama part was.

But right now they're saying Disney is going to take out what's in the Opera House AND the Main Street Bank (I'm guessing the Disney Visa window or whatever that is that's in between those 2) and put the gallery there and permanently put AP processing over at Plaza Pavillion.

I have to say I wouldn't at all be disappointed if DLR opens a large, wide open, airy space for the new Gallery. I liked the openness and space of the old one in NOS, and they sold more merchandise and had more 'stuff' everywhere, in different little rooms. I mean, it would be sad to see Mr. Lincoln disappear for good because I did grow up at DLR going to see him and his Presidential peers every trip, but....I would LOVE a giant Gallery space. It hasn't been the same since they closed the NOS location.

As much as I loved the Gallery, I don't want to see Mr. Lincoln go away! I remember asking a CM when he was going to come back and he didn't know and just said sometime soon. Well it's not soon enough and I need a new haircut! ;)

DH will be disappointed if it goes away for good. The last few trips all he wanted to see was the Lincoln attraction, but it was closed. For all the times I drag him the DL- I hope he gets the chance to see it sometime in the near future.:guilty:

According to MousePlanet, they're going to keep the theater part intact, and not have it apart of the gallery. So the future gallery would just be half of the lobby of the Opera House and the whole Bank.

I wonder what they'll do with the theater.
