Last year I went to DW for the first time in a decade (really as the first time as an adult paying for my own trip) and went to all 4 parks and loved it. I'm planning out all my 2015 vacations and want to do another theme park vacation in there somewhere. Because there really isn't anything new at the 4 DW parks this year (the Seven Dwarfs coaster is the one exception) I am debating between going to Orlando and going to both Universal Park - I've been to the original Universal one but it's been 12+ years, and the MK; or going to DL + DCA. It's a tough call. But Universal is definitely on my vacation radar now and until DW builds new stuff, I doubt I'd plan a whole vacation solely around that until something major gets built, like AvatarLand.
do yourself a favor and go to Universal, especially with Diagon Alley opening up

Lol, that's a good one.

Do both or do Disney only. I still feel like they have a better Resort offering.

You can't base your vacation on one new ride opening. That can be a factor, but you have to look at the big picture.

The big picture says Disney offers way more for their multi day tickets with four parks to choose from. Throw in MY Magic, ME, and Disney Transport and Disney still has an edge.

I've only ever gone to Disney and only really ever thought about going to Disney. Diagon alley is giving me the thought of a universal trip. I'm not a big HP fan but I think based on pictures alone they did an execellent job I don't think you can ignore that. Yes Disney is great and whatever but universal is just as worthy as a vacation place as Disney. If you look at universal big picture they are adding things every year, new resorts, new rides, new experiences. And they are still building. I'm not saying Disney isn't building its just it takes 4 years for something to open. Universal gets things done in two years or less. Universal has transportation from their resorts just not from the airport. Also if you stay at any of the resorts besides cabana bay you get express pass for free which in many ways is better than FP.

I'm in no way saying that Universal is not "worthy" of people's vacation money. However, you have to look at the big picture. More then some new rides.

Look at what a five day pass will buy you. At Disney it get's you access to two full day parks, and two arguably half day parks.

If you go Universal, it gets you access to one full day park, and one arguably half day park. Bang for buck wise it's a no brainier. You have access to way more rides and attractions.

My Magic is way more then just Fast Pass+, you know that though. Magical Express, and Disney Transport are just icing on the cake. The integrated Resort experience is better at Walt Disney World.

do both but definitely do a day at Universal, and my comment was not a Disney vs uni comment..it was a do uni because of the new offerings
never said anything about what resort has more to offer

Woah woah woah... Ease up there, Knute...

This one is heavy even for you...

My magic? A bad app offering hard reservations on old rides and restaurants?

Magical expenses? Great and all...but it's a bus ride that locks you in...

Eeeeeeeaaaaaassssyyyy there...don't negate all the good work we have done in our sessions...remember what we talked about?

And the mine train is 50 seconds of pure mediocre...
Please...dear god...NOBODY book a $5,000 vacation with that as a big factor...oh please, no...

Hmm, this is an interesting one.

I wouldn't take back anything I said.

The power of the properties I mentioned have increased ease of access to the Resort, enhanced Resort stays, and made it more seamless then ever to create vacations. When you're using My Magic, on Disney Transportation, and staying on the integrated properties it's hard to leave.

Couple those technological and logistical draws with the largest, family friendliest, and one of the best maintained roster of lands, attractions, and rides. I'm sorry, but for a five day pass it's the best money can buy. It's truly the most powerful destination resort in Orlando, and perhaps the world.

That "bad app" is a part of a broader strategy to get people to come, and stay on Walt Disney World property.

I think it's working. Sure sometimes we miss the old system, but My Magic on a whole has added value to our and everyone's vacations.

Though you already know all this stuff Lockedout. You know about the ecosystem Walt Disney World is trying, and effectively creating. You have to realize just how brilliant their plays are.

Mine train coasters, Diagon Alley, and Kong are just small parts of the bigger Resort picture. Disney is playing for the week long guests. Right now they're winning.

My Magic
Fast Pass+
Disney Transportation
Dining Plan
Integrated resort payment for a plethora of shops, and Restaurants
Integrated dining reservations
PhotoPass
MagicMaker
Magical Express
100s of rides, shops, recreational activities, dining, etc.
10s of thousands of hotel rooms
The Disney Cruise Line
Disney Vacation Club

They honestly have the best lineup of offerings. Period.

Now with all that said, when's our next appointment? :)
