What I find interesting is disney has been doing these events for over 20 years, and is set up and executed by an outside company, and the website they use for registration is another different outside company. You'd think that disney would know what they are doing by now, develop their own website for registration and maybe hire their own people to run the races how they want.

They have enough issues getting things together on their own websites. Trust me. It's better they have these contracted out.

if you re paying rack rate there really is no deal
scam may have been a bit harsh but my point stands
as always well done rteetz

I never got this argument.

Last time we did free dining, our choices at CBR were a 25 % off rack rate, which was a $40 per day savings, or free dining for 4 "adults", which was a nearly $200 a day savings. How is free dining a scam in that case? Since you HAVE to eat, we CLEARLY saved way more by going on Free Dining.

How about now where they make you get a park hopper or water park and more add on.

because you can go anytime of year for a much cheaper rate.. you re substituting free food for higher hotel rates
like I said earlier scam was a bit too much but its not the deal its made out to be

This WOULD add cost. If you figure it adds $70 or so per person. Still if you are saving $50+ per person per day, there's still a big savings potential. Not as much for sure.

Not true - Free Dining season is also amongst the cheapest of room seasons. (usually either the lowest or 2nd lowest price ceiling.

Not trying to claim free dining is perfect, but those that say it's a bad deal in all cases doesn't understand it very well. It can be a major savings. As I said, we've saved as much as $1400 over rack rate, and as much as $800 versus any other room discount for a week stay. And understand, I am doing that based on the actual value of the food we got, NOT the value of the dining plan.

The savings gets less and less though as Disney restricts more and more. For me this is all irrelevant as we now own DVC so don't sweat Free Dining anymore, which actually makes me kind of happy. I'm sure at some point I will miss the ability to do so many TS restuarants though!

I just hate the "Free Dining isn't free" argument. Drives me nuts. It's an argument over semantics not the value of the program.
