I agree with that, for right now. The question is come, say September, when things are maybe 90% back to normal, will people come back in huge numbers if there isn't much "new" from 2 years ago? Or push off until 2022/23?

I am sure there are some fans that will come back just for their old favorites but others might just wait ... or go to Universal which has their shiny new Coaster open

For us, if we feel safe we will return at that time regardless of new or existing attractions. We have a trip booked for September 2021 (pushed back our Sep 2020 trip by 1 year) but it will all depend on the status of the pandemic, not Disney attractions.

For late January? looks like they are all still 8 hour days (except MK) .. I guess though (like the recent hours extensions) they could be very short notice ... it is 3 1/2 weeks until my check in-date. But I could see them extending hours with only a week or two notice.
But .. I have my doubts the late January (and February) crowds will be there to warrant an hours extension.

I'm having the same internal debate: Do I want extended hours, or significantly smaller crowds. Because I don't think we're going to get both.

I want to say that they’re going to start the show up again, but looking at the comparison of artwork...I’m gonna say it was just an update to the map art because man did that old one look terrible

I think we’ll see big crowds in September/October depending on where we are with the virus...and not just because of Disney. I think Halloween Horror Nights is going to smash their attendance records. I think there will be a lot of demand for guests going to both Universal and Disney around the 50th season. The anniversary on one side, and you have Velocicoaster and HHN on the other side. Or maybe I’m the only one that can’t wait for that combo trip in the fall

And I think that is what Disney is thinking ... And then get another big cycle of guests another year later when you open the new things

I’m seeing some rumblings on some FB groups that it’s covid related with employees.

I’ve also seen they broke their coffee machine.

Obviously also depends on protocols but they are still open right now.

That makes little sense that they’d keep it open right now and close tomorrow if it’s covid related. My money is on them just not being ready to fully open yet. To me, if it was covid, they wouldn’t have opened today let alone keep it open the remainder of the day even after announcing they’ll be closing starting tomorrow

Yeah, I saw some posts that the opening to date was a "soft opening" and they realized they maybe can't handle demand so closing to address

But who knows - could be cover from something Covid related

Some are saying they opened early to capitalize on the holiday crowds/money and this was always the plan.

You know you’ve made it when you open a cookie shop and have people trying to dig up clues of why they’re closing temporarily

Agree. Things are busy now so I can only imagine how busy it will be once they get more things open again. I expect fall to be bananas at WDW.

Their FB account announced the soft opening on 12/22 and indicated then that it was soft and they would close down to prepare for their official grand opening "in the new year". I know it's always our first thought in this age to assume it's covid related, but I think their prior post in tandem with them closing "this evening" and not "immediately" means it's more than likely not covid.
