In some cases things will come back. As far as eating out and going to the movies unfortunately it's accelerated what was already happening before Covid. Many people prefer to stay home over going out. It started before Covid and now is just accelerated. Its very sad to see our society turn into hermits.
I don’t know. Before covid we were always on the go - to the movies, out to eat, to the zoo, to the mall to just wander around and get out of the house. Go go go. Covid taught us how to ... just be home. My kids (4 & 5) experienced a 1980s-style summer like I had as a kid. They experienced real boredom and became so creative with play.
That was actually a really good thing.
This whole thing actually showed me that my kids were growing up much differently than I did. My parents didn’t drag us all over to restaurants and movies and activities constantly. Those things were more special occasions.
I can’t wait to be able to go to a movie, carefree. Dine indoors at a restaurant without worry, etc. For now, we support businesses we love any way we can within our comfort level. But we did learn some positive things in all of this - how to just be home.
