News Round Up 2020

Hadn't realised that the 3rd new ship had not been scrapped:
https://dclfan.com/latest/cfo-chris...-cruise-line-confirms-disney-wish-is-delayed/"We’re in negotiations and discussions with the shipyard to finalize dates, but as soon as we have those we’ll make an announcement when we expect the fifth ship, which is the first of the three, to be delivered, but it is delayed from what we had originally anticipated."

Sure doesn't sound like a project that needs further approvals:
Anaheim spokesman Mike Lyster told BlogMickey.com that the city has not been notified about any cancellation of the project and that the Planning Commission officially approved the site plans back in July. City officials expect the construction of the Disneyland Hotel DVC tower to continue, although the timeline could be altered given the financial and logistical impact of COVID-19.

Yup, been seeing it every single commercial break on multiple channels since Thursday here in Tampa. “Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho” is now firmly entrenched in my mind I’m whistling and singing it constantly.

I feel like at some point NY and FL are going to have to go to marriage counseling or something as the first continues and I haven't seen a single commercial for Disney (parks) since this started

there is no need for Disney to show the Christmas commercial in New York since
you can’t go. Well you can go but have a 14 day mandatory quarantine when you get back. it’s true the governors Don’t like each other but we can’t discuss that here. But the mandatory quarantine when you get back from Florida and lots of other states has nothing to do with politics. It’s about the covid rolling average on tests. Feel bad for you in New York. Not many places you can go. you are trapped but trapped in a big state that has some nice tourist spots buts it’s not wdw or universal of course. My state New Jersey is not much better it has a advisory quarantine. Ok I have been advised.

New York has lots of tourist spots . . . that are closed. At least NJ let Six Flags Great Adventure open. The Six Flags parks in NY (Great Escape and Darien Lake) are still closed, as are many other NY attractions.

Is that quarantine being enforced though? Or is it just political theater? (I mean it's not like they are stopping people at the borders (at ALL roads or train stations). Are there "health officials" tracking people landing at the airports? I highly doubt it .. and if they did -- will they have the resources to keep track of those people for 14 days? Again I doubt it.

So .. if it can't be enforced ... is there really a mandatory quarantine?

They are indeed tracking those flying in - you can't leave the airport without filling out the form or its a $2000 fine. They are calling and confirming your status at home throughout the two weeks. I also heard they are watching on the main highways but I am not sure how they would really track where you are coming from.

Enforcement does not have to mean a police state level of surveillance. What happens if you get into an auto accident? Even if it's the other driver's fault, when the police run your driver's license and see that you're supposed to be home quarantining, you're going to be in trouble. Is it worth the risk?

Edit to add: People driving over the state border are unlikely to get on the list of those who should be quarantining. But the State is getting passenger lists from the airlines, etc. for those who take long-distance public transport.

It’s a rule in place. Enforcement is always difficult. We don’t tend to allow discussion of circumventing rules here on the Dis no matter the context. Probably best to end this discussion.
