It could but you really think Disney will abandon FP entirely forever? That's what the article was about right? That park reservation system was likely to stay after the pandemic is over and after the need for it to restrict occupancy is gone. Unless I read it wrong which is possible. If there is no FP that will help.
In the form it was previously yes. I think a paid offering is coming. FP kills standby. Theoretically if you have less FP that allows for more standby to get through. It could but you really think Disney will abandon FP entirely forever? That's what the article was about right? Oh I'm all for FP going away at least mostly (though I'm not for a paid option but that's based on principle even whilst understanding eventually Disney will make it paid), I was just considering how much investment they have done with FP is all. I agree though it would basically be swapping one planning thing for another if FP didn't exist but park reservations did.In the form it was previously yes. I think a paid offering is coming. But this park reservation system is different. FP was optional and not required for entry as a rule (only under phased closures). With the park reservation system during COVID it's not optional and required for entry. We're not talking A way to track people it's the specific way being done. Capacity wasn't really was I was thinking about anyways. Anywho it's a cross that bridge when you get to it type thing, just talking out loud about it.They’ve had a park reservation system for 7 years. They called it FastPass+ and it meant they knew 1 Park you would be in ahead of time so they could staff accordingly. Yes you didn’t HAVE to reserve and you could change your mind or park hop, but I imagine that will still be true once the pandemic ends and there is plenty of capacity 362 days per year.
TikTok as a platform will be a weird(er) place if it becomes segmented by country. I totally get Meyer’s frustration, both with the impact it would have to the platform, but also to suddenly going from his first CEO role to Senior whatever at Microsoft (assuming that sale gets finalized). Huge, undeserved demotion.
Once all this is over, even if you have to make a park reservation, you’ll be able to make it morning of most days. So I’m not sure what the concern is.But this park reservation system is different. I also just thought about another thing:
Depending on how much volume they get with people buying tickets the day of entry or a few days prior, they can sell individual park tickets i.e. AK ticket or a Epcot ticket at cheaper prices that come with a reservation that get people to spread out more.
I get that again I'm not talking capacity here. I'm not taking about ease of getting a reservation. I'm talking about a requirement of a reservation for the long term, as the article said "it's here to stay even after the pandemic is over" entry to the park. I guess I'm thinking about the other people the ones not on the Board and how it will impact them. Actually right now on most days you can make it morning of, as long as you’re not an AP.
Mayer isn't much of a forward looking businessman if he didn't see what is happening as a very strong possibility when he took the job. What is happening with Tik Tok has been a real possibility since the Peterson Institute issued their report back in January of 2019.
He wanted to lead the next big social media company. He doesn’t want to be some executive at Microsoft or whoever buys them. I’m interested to see where he goes next.Mayer isn't much of a forward looking businessman if he didn't see what is happening as a very strong possibility when he took the job. Sure .. so like an "Adamantium Annual Pass" -- where you never need reservations? Just a huge price tag that lets you not ever need a park reservation? I could see the price of that be REALLY large. It really just comes down to what Disney wants from their guests. Do they want guests who buy 10 days of tickets in advance with the ability to come on multiple trips a year (that may end up being 10-20 days?) Or do they just want guests to buy 5-7 days of tickets .. and just come maybe once a year or every other year.https://blogmickey.com/2020/08/disney-parks-chairman-park-reservation-system-is-here-to-stay/
I knew it!! Next will be allowing APs to bypass reservations after they Jack up the price some more.
Then my prediction will totally right !

I'm struggling to see how this plays out well.
Right now "aimless" guests (preCovid) can just show up after purchasing their ticket. Even the ones who purchase tickets in advance or already have tickets or got them through third parties. No FP is required. I don't know the percentages of aimless guests vs educated ones, but I have to imagine it is bigger than I think. Can't imagine the mess this would create at the turn styles.
Or if I want to go to Epcot on a whim after being in MK I just have to log in and reserve my hop to Epcot? I don't know if I'm overcomplicating it in my mind (real possibility), but it just seems so cumbersome. What happens to the family who decides to go to Epcot after being in another park and forgets this process of reserving an Epcot day? They show up, scan tickets, and then have to get held up until they reserve it? A lot of what if's that I'm sure are way too premature.
