News Round Up 2020

Doesn’t really seem like it will be a problem though as people are just not going out of their homes if they don’t have to.
I agree and that's probably a good thing in respects to the theaters that won't have a software block in respects to seat selection.

I think though you might have a slow down but eventually people may feel too cooped up and need to get out somewhere. Will that be a huge surge in people at the movies? Doubtful but there may be more after a while. That's completely dependent on a regional thing IMO. Things are just now getting real in KC and you can tell people are planning to be in their homes more but who knows what April will bring.

And what are they going to do with big groups? Make them sit apart from each other? NOT!!!!
I seriously doubt there will be seat police in the theater forcing people to sit apart.

Anyone else cringe at how many times this lady makes hand to hand and hand to body contact with others, then raises her own hand up to her mouth to blow kisses?
Maybe I’m just being hyper aware, but I noticed a lot of this kind of thing at the grocery store the other night too.
I’ll admit it made cringe. I, also, was thinking that they all were standing too close to each other. It made me a little sad, but it confirmed that the shutdown was a good idea in my mind.

I’m at Universal today and it’s absolutely dead. Hagrids has been the only thing with a real wait. Most things were walk-on all morning.

it’s so weird that it’s killed the crowds at USF but not Disney. Wait times have been very high.

From what’s on Twitter it sounds like cast members that are part of the cultural representation program will not be paid during the shut down. I wasn’t aware the foreign cast members representing their country in Epcot’s World Showcase worked for a third party contractor. It does appear that Disney will still provide housing for them.

I just got an email from Delta (SkyMiles member) offering a 14 day free trial for D+. In all seriousness, and as a shareholder, I love how they are casting a wide net right now. Some people are bound to stay and pay who aren’t already subscribers.

Maybe so they don't have to pay them.

Unlikely. I've seen an email (see below) that was sent to program participants that says they will be paid through the end of the month and no longer charge for housing.

More than likely, this stems from two likely reasons:

1) Uncertainty that the parks will reopen at the end of March, thus not needing such a large supply of workers for only resorts and Springs.
2) Disney doesn't supply college program participants health insurance under the program, and there is no guarantee that everyone in company housing has insurance through family or personal plans. This may help reduce liability on the company were illness to spread throughout the apartment complexes, while also helping to reduce any potential burden on clinics in and around the LBV area.

I would also think another reason is following suit of many colleges. Most colleges are clearing their dorms during this period which CP housing is comparable too.

And I haven’t let heard of colleges refunding room and board expenses, or paying students for the on campus part-time jobs they had to pay for their tuition and room & board.
