News Round Up 2020

It may or may not be included in the "WDW Official hotels" group - this area seems to be geared more toward CP folks and their families, so their target audience isn't people who are planning elaborate vacations. Housing for CP participants, hotels for families to stay at move-in and move-out, and for short stays to visit their CP kids. That's not the target market for the FP and EMH.

I was thinking the same thing - the "Fairfield Inn" and "Homewood Suites" level hotels are not exactly screaming that they are going to need to include FP+. Not saying tourists will never choose to stay there - but I just don't see Disney giving out perks to someone staying there.

So, another group of hotels getting the 60 day FP+ ability. :(
Heh .. I was thinking the same thing.

There is no way they can add more hotels to the 60 day FP availability unless they put MFSR and RotR into the mix and do some HEAVY tiering in ALL the parks.

still no opening date though right? Wonder if any shot it is open when we go next month (although, food options in EPCOT not really a concern with the Festival of the Arts going on)
For a park that has festivals for 3/4 of the year that involves food booths, I am surprised at the sheer number of restaurants this park has (like the addition of Space 220 and the new Tokyo restaurant).

That being said, I am looking forward to some of them during my next trip (summer) when festivals are NOT happening.

Yeah Epcot has tons of great places to eat while some of the other parks especially HS don't have that many good options.

Last time I did a search for partner hotels one came up that listed their location as Flamingo Crossing. I’ve never been there so maybe it’s not in the same location. I want to say it was a Best Western but don’t really remember. I know there’s one in DS but this was definitely a different hotel.

Menu looks good, prices look Great. I wouldn't expect anything amazing for those prices though.
Why? Because it's not super expensive? That's in-line with casual style (actually pricier given the theme park environment) bbq places.

My fav bbq sandwich at home is $8.29 and doesn't come with anything. If you want fries it'll be $10.49 total.

My expectations are tempered just because it's in a theme park and I understand how it will likely roll (though I'm down for a try of the place though).

I wouldn't say that about those prices at home, but for Disney that would be really cheap for quality BBQ. I'm hoping it'll be at the level of a Rudy's and not the level of Flame Tree. (Really hoping for better than Rudy's, but I'd be pretty happy with that level)

Given the menu and prices, unless it's like leather I'll eat there all the time. It is hard to make BBQ I won't eat.

Not that I don't see your viewpoint but I don't think they can price it any higher IMO. They never advertised the place as table service but rather fast casual and most of your quick service/counter service is at that price range. It's a casual style bbq place rather than a sit down style place.

Plus if you consider 3 broomsticks at Universal with the smoked chicken or ribs or combo platter it's at that price range too.

Yeah, I was expecting the sandwich to be more like $15 and the combo more like $23. It would be high for a CS, but lately it seems like BBQ is commanding a premium.

That said, in the real world I very rarely spend more than $10 on BBQ and am glad it is at the price point it is. I really enjoy the high quality Central Texas Style places, but generally don't want to pay the price nor deal with the 'attitude.' (There are also a lot of wanna be places that charge a lot for mediocre BBQ)

Yeah a combo for $23 wouldn't sell well IMO not unless it was for TS. You'd have people wondering why they are paying that at that place but $24 for fried chicken at 50s Prime Time or at Skipper Canteen (yeah they are fried vs smoked but you get my point).

Now I do agree with your last comment. I'm not expecting stellar amazing BBQ but it'll likely be good enough but it's not because of the price point even if it was higher I still would have the same expectations.

I'm also glad it's at that price point because the beer alone will have the price tag getting up there

Speaking of the beer I hope that isn't the entire list. For a place with "beer" in the name I was expecting (hoping for) more and better

Oh I'm right there with you.

If that is it looks like they tried to get one of each if you will as there's one of a cider, IPA, lager, ale but not surprisingly no dark beer options. I get it though. Limiting but probably appealing to a wider audience (I guess lol).
