News Round Up 2020

For those of you that have already been moved to a new resort- what is your arrival date?

What are the latest arrival dates that have been moved ?

Also, I know some of pop cast is returning- do you think it’s opening but July 20? Would love to hear rumors/thoughts

All being discussed in the coronavirus thread.

As for Pop I think it’s not wrong to assume it opens. When exactly is the million dollar question everyone is waiting for.

Would you mind sending the coronavirus thread link?

There’s also a couple of threads in the resorts forum.

Well .. this pretty much seals it for those hoping the fall would be "normal" for WDW. You can roll back restrictions like masks and reduced experiences quickly, but they can't roll back cancelling huge events like the Halloween parties and modifying the F&W. I would expect more people to voluntarily cancel their fall reservations.

Disney will probably still hit their capacity limits (whatever they are) but there are going to be a LOT of people just deferring their vacations now to 2021 (or beyond).

And Disney plans on using this reservation system for a while. They’ve told UK travel agencies it will be in use into 2021. Halloween parties were scheduled to start in 56 days. Things aren’t probably going to do a 180 within 56 days.

It’s either modified food and wine or no food and wine. I’d imagine most would take the modified version. They still have the flower and garden booths up so save on them taking those down. Also could help them not open world showcase dining while international cast is unavailable.

While the special events at F&W are cool it is really the booths that make it for many people so I suspect most people will be cool with it

Plus to makes Epcot a bit more appealing if you get shut out of the other parks

Just pump in some music over the sound system.

"With this new offering on the horizon, we will be retiring our complimentary MagicBand distribution to Disney Resort hotel guests for new reservations with arrivals beginning Jan. 1, 2021. Disney Resort hotel guests will continue to have the option to purchase new MagicBands at a discount, and we’ll be introducing even more colors and designs featuring favorite Disney characters in the future."

Oof.

Yeah, I don't like this. I'm curious why the heck they got rid of KTTW cards if they are just going back to them? And yes, I know they never fully got rid of them. Frankly, yes, phone usage is up and their apps are HUGE battery drains, now they want us to use them more? That's ridiculous.

I think it's more related to budget than anything else. I'm not sure how profitable the sale of MagicBands are, but giving away a $15-$20 item to every single hotel guest is costly. I'm bummed too. I have a few MagicBands I can use, but I preferred to use the new ones as it feels like a new trip every time.

There's not much there other than "soon" and they seem to hint that people with hotel/resort stays will get access first.

The dates are in there.

Booking Dates for Park Reservations

The Disney Park Pass system will be available soon to select Guests. Booking dates vary based on your plans.

Beginning June 22, 2020, Disney Resort and other select hotel Guests with valid theme park admission can make reservations.
Beginning June 26, 2020, Annual Passholders without a Resort stay can make reservations.
Beginning June 28, 2020, existing ticket holders can make reservations.

Reservations go through 9/26/2021. So as a local I’m now supposed to plan every visit for the next 14 months?! That’s crazy! And they’ll probably limit how many we can make though no word on that. And no hopping is awful. Part of the pass benefits is unlimited admission with hopping when you’re not blacked out, so where is the compensation for the terms changing? A bit of extra time for some passholders but not others, judging by the extension thread in this forum, is not enough.
