News Round Up 2020

Actually that's not true. It would open the door to all kinds of discriminately practices.

You certainly can set certain health and safety standards when it comes to required equipment when entering any private business. When you "buy a ticket" you will be essentially signing a statement that you chose to adhere to all public health and safety requirements which will now include masks.

You can't discriminate based on race/sex/religion, but there are health and safety laws that allow you to do so.

Yup - that's how they get away with banning gay men from donating blood. The FDA guideline was enacted as a reaction to the AIDS crisis, claiming it was to protect the blood supply from the virus. Even when we knew better about how it spread and who it affected, the guideline was never reversed. It's absolutely discriminatory based on sexuality, however it's under the guise of a health protection.

My Olympus park will be open only to hotel guests this season.

Man . .it has been a LONG time since I've been there. (back before it was Mt. Olympus and just Big Chief Go-Karts!) I didn't even realize they had a hotel!

Interesting. But the draw of a tourist destination like Wisconsin Dells is the ability to have a LOT to do in the area over the course of a week or weekend, not sure who will go there JUST for Mt. Olympus and stay at their hotel. I wonder if they would change that policy if things get better as time goes own. But I am not sure how popular/good their hotel is.

I see this working for Universal or Disney, but not for smaller theme parks that aren't really a "draw" in themselves.

What will Noah's Ark do? (since they don't have an attached hotel to help limit attendance).

A few of the bigger Cedar Fair parks have hotels. It would work for them. More and more regional parks are starting to become summer destination parks. Cedar Point is one of them.

Well - OK, you are right within reason you can't have them do ANYTHING. But you certainly can say for the safety of other park goers you have to wear a mask.

Mt Olympus has acquired pretty much all of the hotels and campgrounds on the strip in WI Dells. They have indoor and outdoor water and theme parks. Lots of people go and only do Mt Olympus. We personally won’t go because they are not very clean and they are overcrowded because they pretty much give away tickets, but we are about 3 hours away and we do frequent the Dells we just prefer Noah’s Ark and the indoor water parks.
