News Round Up 2020

The health QR code is very interesting to me and I assume what you are referring to in terms of Americans not being comfortable. How does one receive a green QR code? And how would the US go about assigning something similar? The infrastructure seems impossible, especially given the fact that you would presumably need to be checked regularly to renew your green status. It's a good idea. I just am not sure how we'd go about it. But if China can do it with way more people, surely we can figure it out. Without getting political, I know the kind of person you might be referring to and am probably one myself. But I'd be 100% ok with it and don't see it as an invasion of privacy or stepping on my rights as long as it's done in the right way.
I think you get one after going through testing, and testing would be done in phases, starting with essential workers and moving outward. Maybe bigger companies arrange for testing on site so you can get people back to work quicker. My pessimism about Americans is based on a few layers: privacy issues, logistical challenges, and patience. But I might be reading the situation wrong, after all, most Americans polled have been fine with the quarantine situation, but there are plenty who are adamant about getting back to business. And we really need to ramp up testing soon. I'd feel a lot better about getting back out there if I've been tested, along with others (I live in an area that's gotten hit hard and testing is limited).

Not sure if it applies to all Six Flags but we got an email from ours that they will extend season passes into the beginning of the 2021 season by however many days they miss operating this year.

That’s their policy for passes at all parks. They have not elaborated whether that means operating days closed for your park or all parks.

All Cedar Fair season passes and add one extended through next year, excluding Canada’s Wonderland.

That doesn’t seem super useful if you were also going to buy an AP next year. But I guess some people will find value in it.

Yeah I guess I have yet to see if it benefits us -- this is our 2nd year of APs at this park and I could take the place or leave it but it's really close (15min) and the kids enjoy it.... so if my DH decides to do APs again next year, then we gain nothing. I would have rather them credited some money or sent us free food coupons or something instead. But I guess they're at least attempting some kind of gesture.

Well doesn't it basically give you 2 seasons of operation for the price of 1?

If you bought a 2020 season pass you would get it use it through 2021. Obviously no one knows when 2020 season would open (if it will) but I think this is quite nice to just go ahead and have it be valid through 2021. If say any of these places open up in 2020 season you'll get more out of it this way than just extending the AP for the amount of days the park is close.

The only ones that lose out are the ones who purchase Pre-K passes which are presently not being extended through 2021 but are still valid through 2020 (I know several people who buy these for our local park).

I was planning on buying a Gold Pass for our local Six Flags (La Ronde). First time in 5 years. I guess I will wait to see the details and if they have a nice offer (well nicer than usual). Probably won't visit a Disney park for a few years since we are Canadians and I don't expect medical trip insurance to cover COVID-19 for a while so we might as well encourage our local parks. Not as nice but it's local and in CDN dollars!
