News Round Up 2020

Interesting. I guess we can see an announcement from Disney soon. Maybe with the President's "lets open by Easter" comments, businesses feel like there is an end in sight (at least from the federal government's standpoint) and can start planning for things (knowing that they can always extend the closure if things have NOT gotten worse since this virus is such a moving target). I can't imagine Disney opening much sooner than April 19th then. It would look odd (and probably bad) if their competition was seen being "safer" if Disney decided to open earlier than that.

Or at least the 10th.

Why is Universal construction going on under government guidelines and Disney's is not? Or is it? Or is Universal only doing "minor" construction?

I'm confused.
It is interesting for sure. I’m not quite sure how major projects are continuing unless say they are only letting 10 people on the site at a time? I don’t have specifics for that. As far as I know disney construction has been paused.

I think it's like how some of us posters were commenting when it was announced Disney halted construction...there are things you can do, especially in the construction arena, that allow for proper social distancing. It's gatherings of 10 and under not that you can't have more than 10 people on site.

The power plants presently being actively built by my husband's company aren't being shut down. They just adhere to the social distancing guidelines set forth by the CDC.

These construction projects are large enough that you can easily stay 6-10 feet from each other, limit how many people are in one area at any given time, etc. Once you get to interior buildings depending on the size of the building that may be a tad harder. I suspect there are multiple reasons Disney has halted but Universal hasn't.

Yeah I could see some projects being paused but at the same time I think they could work on the castle with under 10 people, also on Ratatouille since there isn’t major work still to be done. In the end it could be just a cost saving measure by Disney. I’m not quite sure.

The ten or less gathering suggestion doesn’t apply to essential businesses. If construction is considered essential, they don’t need to try to follow that.

They'll still follow more than likely to the best of their ability social distancing (as been recommended still by the CDC) so I could see trying to minimize having a bunch of construction workers all smushed together but yes you are right in that.

Didn’t see this posted (but very well could have missed it), but I just texted my CM friend and schedules did not drop yesterday as scheduled, so I’m assuming a closure extension is definitely coming, as it should.
