News Round Up 2016

Maybe, this means WDW gets Paint the night in 2017. The rumors were mentioning that Paint the Night was going to go to Disneyland Paris when it shut down at DL. I kind of think we may also not see a nighttime parade until 50th at the earliest due to Shanghai cuts.
Didn't DLR already announce that it would stay there operating seasonally?

Possible Muppet Babies reboot on Disney Junior

All the childhood feels.

Jim Hill musings

DisneyQuest won't close until 2017 at the earliest.

Ratatouille will come to Epcot for WDW 50

Also for the 50th each park and Disney Springs will get a Club 33 style restaurant. This would be part of a golden oak ownership as well, which is currently in development on a phase 3.
I love all this.

Yeah, LOL is way off on the garages. Sometimes I think he gets on a roll and just keeps going. He does have a lot of good points but often just carries it a little too far. Parking at that place was horrific when it was half the size. Parking is not a problem now if you know what your are doing. Easy in, Easy out. Free to boot.
yes! how many times have you not gone to DTD because you didnt want to deal with parking? me, certainly a few times

Not a once...if you are talking from the strictly local take?

Then yes...I can see it.

But it wasn't built for locals...not the right pricing.

I gotta tell you...you're probably not gonna like it.

The design is awful...the aesthetics are just off...the pathways are poorly designed...transport maybe worse than before...the garages inefficient...and the layout is more confusing than ever.

I'm kind of with you. I went down there twice at night to catch some of the world cup of hockey (figured I would have my pick at any of the restaurant bars and get a chance to try some apps from some new places). Both times I was kind of lost and quickly made my way to the West side where I at least could find places easily. Before all the Springs opened we went to Morimoto and loved it. But now that everything is open I had a tough time even finding the place.

He's not completely off. The one entrance/exit makes things rough when it is a bit crowded (not driving in/out, but walking from the cars through the walkway), but you are right as well in that I think it's better than it was.

Well it's not totally done...so it may get a little better.

But from what I've seen the town center is just poorly designed.

Confusing network of paths and dead ends...the bridges and paths are woefully inadequate (can't imagine what it would be like in November)..the "springs" are an afterthought and really add nothing...the look Is "sterile" during the day...poorly lit at night. No shade...which is inexcusable.

It just didn't come together well...really didn't...doesn't integrate the marketplace and west side at all...

And they didn't even flatten pleasure island!!! How could you not correct that?!

Had to preserve paradisio 37?

After all that time...it shouldn't be so disjointed.

personally im not a fan of the town center design/look
although i do like the springs part

A minor tidbit that I didn't see in the search results. When I was at the Indiana Jones Stunt Show today I noticed new fans have been installed. Over the seating and over the stage. What made them stand out to me was their size. They must of been 10-15 ft in diameter. They worked remarkably well too, a nice downward breeze the entire show. I didn't notice any dust or grime on them so I expect they are fairly recent.

I know what you're thinking: "of course he'd say that..."

Not here...because I was maybe the most optimistic about this. I was OK with straight high end retail...if you ever read some of the update/shopping announcement threads...i was there...I find the shopping element to be a nice diversion in Orlando...always have.

But the stores suck...even the tommy Bahama that I like to pour money into...and lily Pulitzer (a boy needs to feel pretty sometimes too ;) )

The design is awful...the aesthetics are just off...the pathways are poorly designed...transport maybe worse than before...the garages inefficient...and the layout is more confusing than ever.

Nope...I went 3 times in July...including a solo 3 miler in the cool 86 degree breeze at 7:30 in the morning...just to give it a "fair shot"

Again...nope...it's just not well done.

Do suggest art smith's homecoming though...that was good.

I won't debate this now as all I have to go on are pics and hearsay. In about 50 days we'll revisit this. ;)

Possible Muppet Babies reboot on Disney Junior

http://www.toughpigs.com/muppet-babies-reboot/

First Fraggle Rock, now potentially this. I'm excited at the prospect of watching this show with my nephew.

I find it interesting that there has been a big Muppets push. Thinking back to when their latest show aired, a lot of us here were thinking the fate of the Muppets would be decided based on how the show did. I remember thinking, "well, if it does well they will probably give Muppets a greater presence since people actually will watch/like it, and if it tanks then they can remove it from the park because it shows people don't care for it as much anymore". I can't remember the order of events. Did they announce PizzaRizzo first before they cancelled the show? The did start putting the "stage" show in Magic Kingdom before they cancelled the television show? Was all this stuff in the works banking on the fact that the TV show would be a hit...now they've spent too much money to not go forward on anything?

It's just interesting to me. Cancelling a TV show (which makes sense if the ratings suck), but then, seemingly, do an all out blitz to get them more face time?

I'm not complaining, as long as what they do to them doesn't suck.

They are called "Big (All star sports abbreviation) Fans"

People might not believe you but that is an actual fan brand. We had them at my high school.

Yeah, they are everywhere here in the Midwest. Outdoor ball fields, indoor big stores. Not kidding, I know a cattle farmer that has a Big All Star Sports fan in his feeding barn. Keeps the stink moving if you know what I mean.
