News Round Up 2016

Interesting. We loved the park at night - just such a different feel and had a fun vibe with the dance acts and the DJs playing, etc.

The overall crowds were pretty low though - other than the ginormous lines waiting to get into the Jungle Book Show.

Wonder if they could go to a model where it is open late (11pm or whatever) but only a few days a week so you can really experience it at night if you want

I have to say that I am probably one of the biggest DAK fans out there. But I was underwhelmed by the nighttime offerings. The Sunset Safari is great if the real sun is setting. Once it is pitch black, however, it is harder to enjoy the animals. And too much of the park is off limits. I love the 2 extended animal walking trails in Africa and Asia, but they are both closed! That can be a huge part of your day in that park as it is so animal focused. And the train and Rafikis are also not accessible. The entertainers are a plus but how long can you really watch that? One of the standouts was the projections on the ToL. They were beautiful, and not all IP based which was nice in today's WDW. And both Tiffins and the Nomad Lounge were outstanding additions to the park. And of course, the park has this haunting quality to it at night which is so beautiful to see, but the park needs more to do period. It really needs the real RoL show to debut, along with the Pandora expansion. And even after that, I would argue that it still needs more rides.

Actually, if Jim is accurate on this one - and I never know with him - I think that people generally like the rides where you actually compete with other riders. His description, if true, pits all riders against one another in a "travel into the the video game world" to compete in Sugar Rush. After the 3 to 4 minute race is over, you get to see who finishes first through last and such. I think that is why Toy Story Mania is so popular. The game itself is not complex but people love it, and I think that some of it has to do with it being more than just a ride. When you are actually competing with other people, it allows people to enjoy it on a different level. The same concept goes for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Talk about an archaic looking ride for a Disney park. But man, we go on it every time because as a family we love competing with each other for fun. It would be nice to have another game like that but with better technology.

I almost always get Galactic Hero when we ride, but this past trip fiancee wanted to try. I believe we rode Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin 8 times in a row. Getting FastPass after FastPass (this was near the end of closing). All the CM's were getting a kick out of us riding over and over again and when she finally got Galactic Hero the CM's were just as excited as she was. It's not a "great ride" but damn it all if it's not fun.

I understand that but if I say I start a new thread is it that hard to click the rumor and news board tab at the top of the page to take you to see where that new thread is?

rteetz - sometimes I go for 2 weeks without reading the boards, and then I go back and read it all at once. By then your "new" post is usually not at the top any more, and during busy posting times, it may very well not even be near the top.

Consider that sometimes people will be coming through here and reading everything months after the fact, and by not posting a link, it becomes very difficult for them to follow the conversation out of the thread as it develops.

I don't disagree that having more to do would be nice. I do think Pandora will help with that - and you still have Everest and Kali at night. Agree about the Safari - at "real" sunset is the best time to go

Guess I just think between watching a show (Jungle Book or coming Rivers of Light) and riding a ride or two and taking in some street performers and getting a drink or two ... that is several hours and fills a night. Now I don't think there is enough to justify more than one night in a typical family vacation to WDW, but one is better than none

It's nice to see Disney putting an arcade back in the park. I'll be sure to bring my quarters.

This may have been brought up before, but do you think Disney will add more transportation options from AKL to the AK (maybe a boat?) as well as between this park and the others (monorail?) now that the new Pandora area will be attracting more visitors? It's a pain that a bus is the only option right now. It's what keeps us from staying at the AKL more - we love it but dang the buses are a long haul after a day in the parks.

And to take the time to make a post for the new thread, and then another post to tell us about the new thread, a simple copy/paste of the new thread link only takes SECONDS, so I'm not buying the time issue involved.

And it only takes a couple more seconds to go find that new thread when it's made without the link. ;)

Look I can't make everyone happy but I try my best. I technically don't have to post anything but I do to help all of you out.

I always will take constructive criticism as well. Have a comment or concern? Let me know.

I haven't been in this theater since it was Mission to Mars, but at that time it was only a single theater in the round. Things could have changed in all the years since then though.

On google earth it looks like 2-- Maybe they never have the second opened when I am there-- or I just haven't been on lately....

Side note-- I think someone took heed and fixed some trouble with this site-- This morning I could hardly use it. Now it is aaaall betterrr.....

It may very well have two. The only thing I remember was it wasn't a full theater and it was a takeoff on Mission to the Moon which I had seen years earlier at Disneyland. Was very disappointed in the attraction as the "thrill" of the whole ride was vibrating seats during blast-off.

Doesn't everyone who reads this board have the ability to post a link to the new thread?!?! It seems like someone who is heavily involved with the new thread (Star Wars, dory hitting $1B or not, MSEP lights out, etc) could post a link here. Plus it will give a bigger audience to the topic you feel passionate about. It takes a village.

Yes everyone is able to post links.
