News Round Up 2016

Okay this is how I understand it. The TCM contract for sponsorship is only a 3 year contract so that means it ends in 2018. That means the GMR will not have a sponsor after 2018 which very well could mean it goes away or is changed. Martin almost hints that the rumored additional e ticket attraction could go into the GMR building.

Unless they REALLY plan on overhauling DHS, you'd think they'd just about HAVE to do something movie-related in a building that replicates the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The ride is a little dated for younger people and the show is not as good as it once was.

Disney does have a number of their own films they could use that could be fun. They could draw from most of the Touchstone, Buena Vista, Miramax, Lucasfilm, and WD Pictures movies.

I know lots of people would cringe, but I wouldn't even mind to see a Roger Rabbit ride in there. It fits old Hollywood and I'd love for them to do something new with the character.

From what I know it's not Star Wars, Pixar, or frozen.

Take is from a WDW lover - Disneyland is incredible. I'm so happy we went during the 60th. It was a great trip. You've gotta try it out. :)

I am really glad we got to Disneyland during their 60th and got to see Paint the Night, etc.

I have to say though, I wasn't blown away by Disneyland like I was expecting and we just got back from WDW and it really confirmed that we are a WDW family

Certainly nice to have both options though

I agree with you. Disneyland is a wonderfully different experience, but I suspect typically those that think it is "better" are those that grew up with it. I don't like to say that WDW is better - but I would much rather spend a week at WDW than DLR.

I agree, as well. I had a great time at Disneyland in May and there are definitely some things at Disneyland that are better than Disney World (and vice versa). Overall, though, I'd take a WDW trip anyday.
And everything really did seem tiny after being used to MK. All the buildings on Main Street and the castle are so much shorter and the queues were so tight at the older rides.

Not to mention that the walkways are so narrow.

According to Martin, one particular insider who has been slyly said a few things about this third ip this is what people have been able to uncover:

1 - an "E-ticket" ride
2 - will create "plenty of synergy"
3 - not a thrill ride
4 - not a water ride
5 - not a clone of an existing attraction
6 - not Frozen
7 - not Game of Thrones
8 - nothing to do with the Universal Marvel contract
9 - will "no doubt generate pkenty of attetion and debate"
10 - not Pixar

I have a feeling that a lot of #9 is because its going where GMR is.

Muppets doesn't have enough traction these days to justify being the center piece of the park. It could be any of the recent Disney Animation films. Say Wreck-it-Ralph or Zootopia. Or even Indiana Jones. Though as we've discussed before, an Indy ride would most likely require some thrill.

Martin sort of hinted at GMR but people were still guessing that is what is happening. Did you see an actual confirmation of this. I don't think this is for sure because Martin would likely get his source in trouble if this was happening and he actually let it slip. I think it's just a conclusion people made cause of his hints. I Definitely could see it but we will see. I was kind of hoping this new e wouldn't be replacing something, and worse something I enjoy so much. Addition by subtraction unforunatly. So many places they could have fit something in place of vacant areas or areas with attraction that aren't that popular. The GMR is popular. But I get the ip reason

Did you see the entire thread about GMR closing in 2018 on wdwmagic? This is what its about the e ticket it going there. I created another thread here about it as well.

You are right. I somehow missed that thread on that site with the two insiders. I am on vacation (not in Disney...the shame) and haven't done great following all threads. I was just watching my favorites till I got home (I personally hate reading it from my phone). Guess I should have been watching the new threads more

No worries if we could let's take the GMR discussion over the other thread on the board.
