News Round Up 2016

That's really interesting. I never considered the possibility of Disney using the bus/shuttle area for future expansion of DCA, even though it was kind of obvious.

There's quite a few empty buildings in there waiting for something new to occupy their place. Sounds to me like a future Marvel land could be in development under Joe Rohde's supervision. He bad thing about this rumor is that it increases the chances of the Guardians overlay actually happening.

I recall in the proposed project Gemini Future Workd was to have part of it keep a similar theme and part to get a lot more greenery and have more of a "nature" feel to it .... and the name was to change to Discovery World as focus was more on discovery rather than strictly future or education
Hmm...now that's interesting. I hadn't heard of project Gemini before. But "Discovery World" is an idea I could get on board with. I don't have a strong feeling either way about more IPs in Epcot (Frozen, GoG), but I do hope some kind of "edutainment" theme is kept at Epcot.

Is it confirmed that Fantasyland Expansion it taking over Toon Town? (Assuming I am reading the map correctly)

The infographic shows the Fantasyland expansion taking place south of the Toontown train station (ie, no Toontown impact) replacing the Fantasyland Theater, Troubadour Tavern and the space across from It's a Small World. There's a berm separating this Fantasyland space from Toontown that the Disneyland railroad runs across to keep the track level throughout the park.

That's not what the infographic shows. The highlighted area is IN FRONT OF It's a Small World, so therefore is not part of Toontown. It does encompass the theater where Mickey and the Magic Map is (Fantasyland theater I think?).

Of course this is something someone just made up based on rumors, so it is not official anyways.

Project Gemini was a massive plan to redo future world. It was to be done during the Eisner years. You can see plans for it online. It included plans for just about everything including a completely brand new ride inside Spaceship Earth.

The FP tier complaints don't exactly make sense to me. Is there actually an expectation among folks that they should be able to get a fast pass for the three most popular rides? What would be the point of FP in Epcot if it wasn't tiered? As it has been said, folks would just choose the exact same three rides. So now, instead of helping you do a few things faster, it simply pushes the crowds into every single other line and makes it virtually impossible to go on one of the big three without a fastpass. Tiering it forces some of those fast passes to go to mid tier attractions, breaking up the deadlock a bit.

I haven't gotten a Soarin' fast pass in the last 3 times I've been to Epcot, because I can simply walk on when the park opens. My point being, there are other ways to go about experiencing the park outside of fastpasses.... that is just one extra way of getting a few more things done.

I think the point is it shows that Epcot has so few attractions. A park like MK has a bunch of attractions and more than just 3 headliners to help spread the crowds out. When average guests go to Epcot what do they want to do? Frozen, Soarin, and test track, the rest is just added bonuses.

Sure, that makes sense. I was just pointing out how it all breaks down if they actually allowed everyone to pick those three rides.

I've always felt that EPCOT isn't all about the rides. Sure, I love Soarin', Spaceship Earth & Test Track. But I also spend time at Living Seas, and the countries. If the future plans are to make it more like an amusement park, instead of the original edu-tainment then I guess then more rides are definatly needed. But I hope that's not the case.

No matter which way it goes, it need lots of love!

It's quite simple:

There's no restriction on picking the "best 3" at magical kingdom and animal Kingdom...

But there are at Epcot and studios due to insufficient supply.

And lack of supply is a vendor problem...which the consumer would withhold business based on...if there was any sense.

I agree...

But here's where the rubber met the road: they converted world of motion to a ride...they demoed horizons and built a ride...they closed wonders of life without reason...ripped apart imagination for an incredibly unpopular ride...Added a ride to the land...

Then gave up...now they're caught in no man's land...by choice.

Ah, thanks - was looking in my phone so hard to get proper detail

The "best 3" at MK is subjective. Take 10 people and ask them to name their top 3 rides at MK, and you are likely to get a wide variety of responses.

Haunted Mansion
Big Thunder
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
PotC
Seven Dwarves Mine Train
and then you have the non traditional picks like Peter Pan and/or princess meetings, which are still valuable from a saved time perspective.

Not so at Epcot. The top 3 are very clear there. The tier systems prevents every single person from picking the exact same three rides, because if that happens, it totally undermines/defeats the entire point of FP+ in the first place.
