Skipper Canteen debuts new menu

View attachment 182669

Biggest smart change was on the Kids Menu - Kids Arepas meal is gone (and they were likely never ordering it - adults were - so that saves Disney lost money) and a new fried chicken option (with sweet and sour sauce, seemingly served on the side as a dip sauce - and if not, probably very possible to do) was added. Subbing out the veg for the fruit bowl on the meal and getting a sweet dessert will make most kids very, very happy at the place (I bet this becomes the most ordered kid meal and the fruit for veg the most common sub)...

Launched the app to play around with the "Get Directions" feature. Crashed as soon as I hit the "Get Directions" button. Sent a report.
I updated my Android phone with the new version (4.4) from google play, and it downloaded and installed the old 3.6 version. I even uninstalled the old one, downloaded again, restarted phone, and still got 3.6. What am I doing wrong?

Is the update available for android yet? It also might be that the new version of MDE isn't compatible with the current version of android software you have on your phone? I don't currently have an android phone but have in the past so I'm not positive.

I think you're confusing the average rating (4.4 stars) with the version number. If you go into the Play Store, click on the green "What's New" box, then scroll all the way down, you will see the latest version is 3.6, and it was updated on July 18th. My Disney Experience 3.6 is the most current version. Even without going to the Play Store you can tell if you have the most updated version by what happens when you launch it. First time you launch the updated app you'll be brought to a splash screen telling you about the navigational aspect. Even if you skip that, if you go to the Attractions tab, click on any star, and see a "Get Directions" button, you have the most up to date version of the app.

So to answer your question, as far as I can tell, you're not doing anything wrong.

Not sure about that one. While the Android N (Nougat) Developer Preivew 5 was just released yesterday, this update should work on Android Marshmallow (Android 6.0) and earlier versions. I'm actually thinking it was something to do with the location settings. I currently have my location settings set to GPS, and I may have actually denied MDE permission to my location (have to check on that). Even if that is the case, the App should not crash because it can't access the phones location, there should be a window notifying the user that they have to grant the MDE app permission to the location in order to use that feature.

EDIT: Confirmed the crash was occurring because I denied MDE permission to my location. Granted it permission for the time being to see how the navigational stuff works. Have to type into the "From" box to select where you currently are. It may be able to find you automatically if you're in the parks...seeing as I'm trying to do this from Connecticut.

Its working fine on my phone.
I did have a system update this morning, and only checked the app after, so I'm not sure if it worked yesterday pre-update. Maybe check/install system updates and see if that helps?

I mean, EPCOT can only get better, right? Please? Don't ruin my favorite park Bob...

Saw this on Twitter yesterday, and my heart sank. I don't mind movie and character franchises moving into EPCOT, as long as it keeps to a somewhat edutainment theme. GoG? Please, no.

Well, you could be right...I looked again at the Google Play version, and while there is verbiage that says "With this release, you'll be able to use your device to help you find your way around....." implying that it should be included, I don't see it. and I was mistaken about the version for download for my phone - it is only 3.6. But I can't find this feature anywhere within the app...soooooo...maybe not yet part of the Android version.

EDITED TO ADD: I did find it....it's within the search feature for dining, etc. when you select an event, you go to "Find on Map" or "Get Directions". I was looking for it on the main menu. Duh.

What kind of Android phone do you have? What kind of system update did you get?

If you have a Nexus and received the July Security Patch that shouldn't affect the app.

It's also within the "Attractions" tab. By clicking on one of the attractions (a star pin on the map) the "Get Directions" button is accessible.

If you go to an attraction/dining/other page, Get Directions is with the other options

ETA: Saw you already found it :)

Verizon Galaxy S7 Edge. Looks like it was just a security update. I know it shouldn't affect the app, but just trying to make sure everything is comprable

Yep, that's what I was doing. I do see it now, but after testing only a couple of things, have found the instructions are not necessarily correct. I did a search for "port Orleans French Quarter to Trail's End Restaurant" and it told me a bus from POFQ goes right to the Campgrounds...now unless things have changed since my last visit, I know you have to go via a park or DS to get from resort to resort. Good start, but might be confusing to new folks who don't know that.

So this makes it sound like all of the penny pinching is not all coming from Burbank but at least in part it is coming from the Orlando execs.
The Orlando execs have always been part of the problem. They through the fit to not pay for guardians in DHS tower of terror, which was actually a good fit for fans. Orlando would rather spend money on nothing while continuing to raise prices.

Miceage update!

http://micechat.com/132030-disneyland-rumor-update-one-disney/

Disneyland is going to spend $2 billion over the next four fiscal years.

Doesn't seem like a lot of new info here though - just sort of confirmation of what was already known - except to know that it is continuing to progress. Most interesting is the comment that Anaheim has broken away from the penny-pinching of Orlando. Now we need Orlando to break away from the penny-pinching in Orlando.

Also interesting that they say Anaheim is carrying the parks division right now. Maybe more confirmation the price raises and cuts are having significant impacts in Orlando.
