News Round Up 2016

To be fair, certain pontificating blow hards (which may or may not include yours truly in some people's eyes) are important to prevent group think. When you take the emotion out of it, the frustration is often rooted because they have a shred of truth that goes counter to a person's desires. If the blow hards are all ignored or chased off, then you end up with group think and everyone proceeds blindly idling along until things either A) blow up or B) become repetitive and boring.

In short, the fans, message boards, and world as a whole need pontificating blow hards. It doesn't mean you have to love them, but my personal recommendation is unless they are insulting or aggressive (which I have not seen on this board, and the moderators address in short order) - ignoring them with the button is more damaging to the health of the board than simply choosing to skip past or use their post as eye rolling fodder.

Just my .02.
I do agree with you to an extent. There is a point of diminishing returns when it comes to some that are spouting the same rhetoric ad nauseum. I enjoy reading dissenting opinions as much as the next person. Unfortunately, when you have heard the same broken record so many times that it "B) becomes repetitive and boring" , then it is time to cut that segment out of the discussion. Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

I was just thinking they must really regret letting them go.I liked the lumberjacks but there wasn't much repeatability to their stuff.

Unfortunately I wouldn't count on off kilter coming back

I don't think they regret it. I'm guessing these mercenary acts are costing them a lot less.

Rumor

A great source on wdwmagic said that the main e ticket battle ride will be one of the best rides in the world based on what he's heard. The other ride the falcon will be one of the best in the US according to him.

Yeah, no way it's going to live up the expectations I have for either of them now. I didn't even realize both were supposed to be E-Tickets. There have been two times in my life when I was absolutely blown away by a ride. One was Forbidden Journey. I had always been a roller coaster junkie and not much of a fan of other rides. But that was the absolute best and most innovative ride I had ever been on. I could not believe it. To a much lesser extent, I felt the same way with Radiator Springs Racers.

If even one of the two Star Wars rides give anything close to the experience of the first time I rode FJ or RSS, I will be forever grateful to Disney. I think we Star Wars fans deserve a breathtaking immersive land just as much as the HP fans. And we've waited way longer.

I agree with the previous 3 posts. Like the bold headlines, enjoy discussion, know how to scroll when I'm not interested.

Ryan you do a great job with this thread. I look forward to reading it every evening.

This is how I use and enjoy the thread and makes the most sense.

One idea this whole thing has given me is, what if we had a "Summary" post of each day? I'd be willing to try and head that up or help with it if it's something people would be interested in. But maybe that would just be overkill. The news is there. There are just times when I'm not able to be online for a few days and it's really hard to remember where I left off and sift through the discussion to find the news.

But he's basing this on what he's "heard" not anything he's seen?

So even if he's a good source that's a giant pinch of salt right there.

This was an older article than the article I posted - it's info may have been obsolete...or Disney may have leaked more than their PR could stop...

Reminder - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/star-wars-rogue-one-enlists-899530?utm_source=twitter

The article you posted only says they've added a stunt guy and a screenwriter. There is no other new information there. The Hollywood Reporter loves their clicks and twitter mentions, though. No one goes broke getting fans to panic over rumors.

Awesome hyperbole that can only lead to let down. I'll settle for "the best ride at Disney World", which the last time they opened a new ride to compete for that title was 2006 and before that 1994.

Sorry if I'm slow, but what's the "battle ride" and "the falcon" ride?

They are the two main rides at Star Wars land.

I sort of always assumed these were both going to be E-ticket rides based on the descriptions (a term I hate - but applicable here I guess). Hopefully things don't get scaled back like they often do.

Yes both are supposed to be e ticket type rides.

Martin is good. Better and less cynical than spirit I would say.

Martin even used the imagineering code names for the attractions. The major e ticket battle ride is named Alcatraz. Falcon is named big bird.

Yes he is certainly one of the more credible sources. But... he can only go by what he's told and that's where you run into the problem.

Right now nothing is built at most they may have detailed blueprints. Those things can and do get changed in execution. So any claims for "best in XXX" should be treated with a lot of caution until there's actually something there.

Disney usually have grand plans, they don't always execute.

He did say they aren't cutting anything from Star Wars right now in terms of the attraction quality. The original plans did have a third attraction but in order to save cuts from the main two the third was cut based on how I interpreted it.

It doesn't have to be a budget cut. Sometimes things just don't work as intended.

I think it's good news, they at least have some cool ideas for these rides. I just think it's a mistake to make those sorts of claims when the ride is not built.

I believe some of the same claims were made about potter and that turned out. I know that's a different company but I don't know I'm optimistic.

News

I'm not exactly sure how well this will sell knowing the reputation of the Tonys but new dining package for the Main Street electrical parade at Tony's.

http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/tony...-street-electrical-parade-viewing-package.htm

(Thinking out loud here) I wonder if it's more of a test. I read rumors elsewhere that Disneyland may not be keeping PTN past the celebration, and if it or something similar were to come to WDW, I could easily see them creating a dining package for it.
Plus, even if Tony's isn't popular, MSEP still is. They aren't selling lunch with the bonus of parade seating - they are selling parade seating with the bonus of lunch

I think Disneyland people would be quite upset if paint the night left Disneyland and came to WDW. I hope Disneyland keeps it and WDW gets something new.
