News Round Up 2016

This is how I use and enjoy the thread and makes the most sense.

One idea this whole thing has given me is, what if we had a "Summary" post of each day? I'd be willing to try and head that up or help with it if it's something people would be interested in. But maybe that would just be overkill. The news is there. There are just times when I'm not able to be online for a few days and it's really hard to remember where I left off and sift through the discussion to find the news.

If you are logged in when you read the boards you don't need to remember it does it for you. I'm logged in on my phone and laptop and it doesn't miss a beat. I can finishing reading all the new stuff on my phone refresh the news and rumors page and it will show me a none bold link for this thread because I'm caught up. The only time it doesn't catch it is if you stop reading partway through a page.

I've even had it show a message I started on my phone but didn't finish in the thread the next time I looked on my laptop.

Rumor

A great source on wdwmagic said that the main e ticket battle ride will be one of the best rides in the world based on what he's heard. The other ride the falcon will be one of the best in the US according to him.

I think if Disney wants to continue it's dominance this has to be true. IMO Disney continues to demonstrate that they can create the best theme park attractions in the world (especially in overseas parks it seems). For a property as epic and important as Star Wars, these standards are not too high, and they are not hyperbole. It is within Disney's capability to make this happen, and if they want to keep Universal at bay they really have to pull this off. These attractions should literally be among the best in the world, and I sincerely hope they will be.

The article you posted only says they've added a stunt guy and a screenwriter. There is no other new information there. The Hollywood Reporter loves their clicks and twitter mentions, though. No one goes broke getting fans to panic over rumors.

Yeah, but you wouldn't need a stunt guy if it was all "inner cockpit dialogue" stuff...so something does not add up...

He did say they aren't cutting anything from Star Wars right now in terms of the attraction quality. The original plans did have a third attraction but in order to save cuts from the main two the third was cut based on how I interpreted it.
If cuts are needed, I much prefer this method over the dumbing down of each ride. Quality over quantity please:)

edit: duplicate of story already covered about Tony's MSEP ... though have heard from someone else mention a rumor about Paint the Night potentially coming to WDW and this could be a test for it

I remember reading that rumor in this thread a while ago - that MSEP would go to DLR and PTN would come to WDW.

Kong Update:

Sorry for not posting at the time of the alleged soft open, but the rain made using my phone pretty difficult.

TMs were stationed at all points along the area to tell people 'no guests will ride tonight', 'check the blog for updates', etc. We were hopeful this was a canned response but it soon became obvious it was not. The small amount of people in the queue were TMs. They downgraded testing tonight from soft open to TM preview #2. There are several elements of the attraction which are not in top working order and TM friends who rode tonight described several points where the ride shut down. One friend was evac'ed from the ride. There is much to be done before it will truly be ready for guests.

I'm gonna guess (and this is truly a guess, no TM info to back it up) that we won't see soft opens till closer to the 21st as that's the 'Summer' deadline.

That doesn't really seem like a "fair trade" to me. As nostalgic as I am about MSEP, PTN just blew me away - and we weren't even planning to watch it. We got off Matterhorn and there it was! Such a fun surprise!

Can't they just duplicate the floats and maybe add a few different things and run them on both coasts. I mean that seems like a simple solution to me

PTN is not leaving DL. It happened once and it wasn't well received, it ain't happening again. Or at least I really doubt it will.

Either they replicate the floats and give some exclusive units to each coast to make them somewhat different, or they give a whole new parade to WDW.

Definitely not a fair trade. Just confirming that I had also seen the rumor mentioned. :) Ideally a new night time parade will come to WDW..
