News Round Up 2016

All this sequel news has left me with one question.... Will there ever be an Incredibles 2 or will the failures of Alice and such kill the film?
Right? I'm still wondering how the battle with the under miner played out!!

Oh, I've been to Norway (Oslo, Kristiansand and Stavanger ... with DCL). And what I saw in those FEA pictures did not remind me of any of those places. (The photos you posted do!)

That said, in the photos in the link rteetz posted today, there appears to be dark shingles where the whitish rectabgle was ... Definitely an improvement, but things still seem a bit off.

Mostly just meant "orange rectangles stick out like a sore thumb and jar the surroundings" in Norway. I think they do as well.

Incredibles 2 is already in production. I don't think the effect of any other movie will affect that - though I suppose if Finding Dory tanked (pardon the pun and unlikely) then MAY-BE, but I think I2 is safe.

Is there a refurb for OKW planned, I saw this on a DVC board

Disney's Old Key West Resort: Refurbishment from spring 2017 through 2019

Wondering if there is truth to this?
That's strange. I thought they had a refurb not that long ago. And I know peninsular road was behind walls when I was there in July

Someone said the white walls are a bit institutional, and I tend to agree. The linens and art look nice, but they could probably have chosen a more interesting paint color. Maybe something different for each decade. But I'm sure that would cost too much!
They have to pay for that coffee machine somehow!

Pixar operates differently than Disney studios. They are still moving ahead with toy story 4 and cars 3.

And I don't think dory will do nearly as bad as Alice.

If Dory does as badly as Alice, someone will get fired...that movie is predicted (as of now) to have a $110M-$120M+ opening American weekend and $400M+ American run...of course, time will tell if folks want to see Nemo 1.5 (same plot/movie with the Mater character as lead)...(I have a feeling this will also underperform, but not like Alice has)...

See I'm excited for dory. It may be along the same lines as nemo but it's a character I like and they are searching for Dory's home not Dorys lost child. Everyone has their own opinion though.

Another view of the new pop century room

I do wonder, because the murphy bed and the look of that "kitchenette" for lack of a better term, combined with the olive green, scream 60's or 70's. Could they use the same over all theme but change the furniture up a bit for the decades? Because that room doesn't look like anything modern, or even like something that would fit into the 90's.

I like the flooring, Motel 6 is doing the same with their updated rooms and they are quite nice, more modern that that Pop room. Maybe the murphy bed is only in one decade or is for those that want a king but don't get one because there are so few, at least they get more room.

It's seems very "been there, done that already" to me. But, then, I don't like sequels that don't bring a lot of "newness" (Toy Story is the only Pixar/Disney recent animated series that has strived for that total newness of story each time...not many other of the Disney/Pixar animated movies have been). It's not surprising to me that the big movies of this year that did not involve EPIC superheroes were all not sequels (Zootopia, Deadpool, Jungle Book)...I think people are starting to get a touch tired of studios just retreading safe product and sequels...

We do have Moana which is an original coming out later this year. You had Zootopia as an original this year so it's not all sequels even though it may seem like that. Even in Disneys renaissance of movies in the 80s and 90s most of those movies had sequels.

It's not just Disney with sequels - have you seen the summer movie schedule?:) It's averages at least a sequel per week from now til Labor Day...

And personally, I think it's far better than Jungle Book from an overall appeal level...never cared for the music in the original JB, and the fact that they felt there needed to be songs in an otherwise great movie, I think was a mistake. Love Love Love Zootopia!

I love the original Jungle Book songs. While it would be interesting to see a cut of the 2016 movie without them, I think they served a purpose.

"Bear Necessities" reinforces the carefree nature of Baloo. I wouldn't say it was spot-on, but it was appropriately goofy.

"I Wanna Be Like You" provides a much-needed bit of levity in a tense situation. I think the original Louis Prima version was more fun and was far and away better, but I can't imagine Christopher Walken singing it any other way than the way he did.

"Trust in Me" was really nice (though, sadly, only heard in the credit sequence). I liked Scarlet Johansson's lazy, mesmerizing take on the song. It fit her version of Kaa very well -- as did Sterling Holloway's significantly goofier portrayal of the snake.

I can't say I really missed the others that much and their absence provided much better pacing and kept the focus on the action instead of becoming a complete rehash of the original.

Having seen it, Zootopia fits as well in AK as Avatar...and it has the advantage of having animals as the main stars:)...the movie is not as great as its box office (I gave it a B+, but I am a harsher critic than most), but it has some of the funniest scenes I've seen in an animated movie in a long time, and good humor goes a long way to making a good movie experience...
Is there a way to retheme rafiki planet watch to mini zootopia? Can try to update train to be similar to that in movie. Just a thought.

Definitely need to set the DVR! I so love Hayley Mills!
