News Round Up 2016

I'm sure it has more to do with the extra attendant required at each touch point than it has to do with "efficiency" as stated in the article.
Why wouldn't they just put the checkpoint right before you get on the ride? If you can't read signs to figure out which line is which, then it's your bad. You would just have to go back around. I can see lots of people cutting into line!

EasyWDW has been running reviews of F&G food booths. Today's has some rather stark comparison photos of last year's portions/prices and this year's: http://www.easywdw.com/easy/blog/ep...er-house-pineapple-promenade-urban-farm-eats/

Perhaps they are working their way towards a new model next year where merely get to smell the food?

I know these are supposed to be samplers rather than full portions but the amounts are ridiculously small and they are skimping even on the "filler" vegetables.

This is the worst idea I have ever heard of. What are they thinking? I was hoping they would have just realized that the first touch point needs to be about 100 feet into the cue to eliminate the line in the walk way...... but no... leave the line in the walk way and allow everyone to duck the rail and have a fastpass--- worst idea ever.
It's them putting "personal responsibility" on their overpaying customers...to save a few bucks on a few employees.

Where have I seen that before?

The booths in Epcot have been massively overdone at this point. But they still manage to sell them so the "tweaks" will continue.

Because that would bottleneck and cause serious complaint issues.
But I agree - scammers Will pick up on this quickly and throw the fast pass lines out of whack.

This could - however -be a precursor to what has been speculated by some around here: fast pass only rides.

Sad. When I went a few years ago, it was very enjoyable and you didn't feel like you were throwing away $.

Maybe the pendulum will swing back (you can hope), but this Disney trend of cuts and revenue I'm afraid is only just getting started.

He shoots...he scores!!!

I'm still confused by this as they still have to staff the merge. Most rides have 1 person at the merge. Some have 2.

I'm pretty sure the stand by line isn't going to let fastpass people in out of the goodness of their hearts.

So this has to be about staffing down to 1 at all locations (doubtful not a big savings) removing hardware for cost savings (maybe) or changing up the process.

We did notice in February it was random. About 75% of the secondary kiosks were covered but not all. So if you jumped you were risking it. On rides like PP it definitely would speed things up.

I wonder if they are moving to some sort of remote scan like they are using on the rides. Or fastpass only on some rides. I don't know. This is another odd one until we fully understand. Low savings (time and labor) for massive risk of abuse.

I noticed in January that most of the merge points were down to one CM manning them anyways.

My god what a stupid idea .... I mean as people have already noted here (and in the comments section of the article) tons of people are just going to hop the line, hell I would probably just hop the line.

There is going to be a choke point regardless of where you put the scanner, and as long as you have the same number of scanners, it doesn't matter -where- you put them, at the start of the line or at the merge, or towards/at the end. They should just put the scanner at the end, as long as there is a space to fill up after the scan of people to load the ride.

Hrm ... is this yet a second look at the downfall of FP+ ? Lets see, CM's cut, then Kiosks removed, then Wishes FP gone, now scanners being deactivated .... doesn't seem like FP+ is working out the way the bean counters thought.

Now, the FP+ by the app is a nice change, I am going to enjoy that, might even make me like FP+ more than I dislike it on balance, will have to see how it plays out re availability or will this just put even more pressure on the SB lines.

I don't think this is the downfall. The whole MyMagic+ system has been a problem since its inception but of course the excuse times pushed through with it and are going to continue to, to make it seem like it's not a fail.

Personally I don't think the new hub looks that bad. They needed to expand and I think this was the best way to do that.

All personal opinion. Destroying the rose gardens and damming up the water doesn't look prettier to me.
