I understand people not wanting Disney to make the move to not allowing outside food/drinks allowed in the parks, but I personally am not going to get all worked up about it when no one really knows what that may or may not actually translate to. I very much appreciate the information being posted here (thank you Ryan), but don't understand the uproar when there are no actual details available yet. I for one choose to take a wait and see approach to these type of things.

What uproar? People are discussing it. I haven't seen a single lighted torch or pitchfork.

The most I've seen is people saying they think it's a bad idea they aren't threatening a worldwide boycott. Discussion is the point of this place.

That one almost went over my head. What is the historical precedent prior to these changes? Have they ever held onto shows / fireworks for this long? Assuming no...

Love to refute revisionist history that gets talked about "Disney NEVER did it that way!"

So here's the history of ALL WDW of nighttime entertainment:

Magic Kingdom:
Fantasy in the Sky: 1971 - 2003 (32 years)
Wishes: 2003 - 2016 (13 years)
Main Street Electric Parade: 1977- 1991, 1999-2001, 2010 - Present (~21 years total time over 39 years - not counting the years it ran in Disneyland)
Spectromagic 1991-1999,2001-2010 (~18 years across 20 years)

DHS/MGM:
Fantasmic!: 1998 - present (18 years)

Epcot:
Iluminations: Reflections of Earth 1999 - present (17 years)

MK Resort Area:
Electric Water Pageant: 1971 - Present (45 years)

So, let's stop calling Wishes OLD HAT. It is the shortest lived nighttime show in the history of WDW. Second is Spectromagic, which ran for a "mere" 18 years. The average lifetime amongst the 7 shows is just under 24 years.

Another point - before 1998 there was ONE park with a nighttime show. Come 2016 there will be FOUR.

Oh - and "Fantasy in the Sky" was also the fireworks show at Disneyland from 1958 to 1999 - running for 41 years.

SO, sorry everyone... Disney ALWAYS did it that way.

Film and TV News:

Disney XD is launching a Big Hero 6 TV series in 2017, produced by Kim Possible creators and producers Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley (how awesome is that). Let's remember that Tangled is already being developed into a TV series for the Disney Channel. Other popular films by Walt Disney Animation Studios are rumored to be getting a full-fleshed sequel, as is the case of Wreck-it-Ralph and Frozen.

Iluminations: Reflections of Earth 1999 - present (17 years)

Not that it matters, but I seem to remember Illuminations being different pre-2000's. A much better show IMO. I think it was still called Illuminations and then it changed to Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. Not sure my memory serves me well though.

Yes there have been different iterations of illuminations.

Your opinion which would make your dislike of the fastpass make more sense. Still no need to call people lemmings for enjoying the fireworks, enjoying being able to watch them without complete strangers plastered next to you on every side and enjoying all of this while not camping out at a spot for an hour.

I really hope you are right and that they keep it within a clearly definable/enforceable set of boundaries (akin to the differentiation between selfie-sticks and go-pro grips). I just hope they don't try to stop guests such as myself from bringing in bottles of water or using a Camel-Bak (we use ours as a back-pack).

My wife and I are going to WDW at the beginning of April. I have followed this thread (and the previous) for a few years. We have gone to WDW multiple times a year each of the past few years (which is why we decided to become passholders). Keeping
up with the News and Rumors thread every trip prior to this one has gotten me even more pumped up. This is the first trip that I find the more I read, the more down I am about going. I may be over-thinking at this point, but I have to admit that I have switch
gears internally from looking forward to the trip to just hoping it won't be a let down. My wife is in the same boat. We were
planning on renewing our APs as soon as they became eligible this month (we have the money put aside), but we are now going to
hold off until after our April trip. I am trying not to make any true judgments until I experience things first hand, but I can
honestly say many of these news and rumor postings seem to be stripping away that coat of magic.

I agree that the current news & rumor postings are starting to get to me. I can easily see Disney banning coolers. For example, they currently ban coolers on wheels. As for every bottle of water, & every small snack, that is beyond belief. Families need the snacks & drinks for their kids! Also, some of us need gluten-free snacks. We already spend an average of $100-200 per day for Disney dining & dining packages(for 2), & I need to snack every few hours(like a diabetic). I drink a lot of water(no soda), avoid tap water due to the fluoride & other chemicals. I should be allowed to bring in bottled water left-over from a meal in one park
when we park hop. SAYing that you don't need to bring in bottled water because you can get tap water from Park counter service
is like saying that you do not need water because we will sell you soda. Dasani bottled water is purified thru reverse osmosis.
Tap water contains chemicals that I need to avoid for health reasons. We could buy bottled water @ the Parks, but gluten free snacks are not so easy! Also, I have seen families bring in their resort refillable mugs w/soda. They are already paying more to stay on-site, & the refillable mugs are part of the dining plan(more $$ for Disney). The refillable mugs are not cheap O.O.P. We have taken one with in case we stopped @ a resort for a Park break. Then coffee would be free, but we are STILL giving Disney more $$ @ the Boardwalk Bakery, or @ WL's Roaring Forks. Are they going to check all the refillables(to be sure there is not any drink or water) OR outright confiscate them all & all Camelbaks, etc.?

I hope this is done well. Turtle Talk was one of my son's all time favorite attractions. We did it during nighttime EMH so there were hardly any people there. The children were able to have very magical one-on-one discussions with Crush.

I saw reports that Florida is one of two places in us that are expecting colder than average temperatures from March to May. The rest of the country is expected much warmer than usual temps in the same period.

Spirited Rumors

Disney is considering no longer allowing people to bring in food to the parks. The only way they would allow such is for special dietary reasons.

Now that would help limit the crowds.....
