News Round Up 2016

I've lurked through way too many threads about it, but saw at least someone talking about how they didn't think there were enough seats for everyone to view so maybe it was limited access. Perhaps the seated area will be FP/Dinner package only, though, or they were just wrong. The thread I saw may have even been speculation from a year ago. I've read so much Disney in the past week my head is spinning.
There was discussion about how many it will seat. It's not going to fit absolutely everyone. It doesn't have illuminations or wishes type capacity. Ive heard 5000-6000 seats, and then whatever standing room is available.

Symphony in the Stars got canceled tonight due to "technical difficulties".

A lot of people were pretty upset because they just announced it over the speakers at a couple minutes past 8:00 (when it was supposed to start) and told everyone to have a good night.
Sometimes it happens there isn't much you can do about it unfortunately.

Nope I love Caddy Shack

A man of good taste;)

The Circle of Life film in the land Pavillion is closed for refurb.

How many vacations did this ruin?

WDWNT is the only one reporting this as of now but a new show could be coming to he circle of life theater

http://wdwnt.com/blog/2016/02/breaking-is-the-circle-of-life-at-epcot-closed-forever/

Let's take a moment to bow our heads and pray that it is gone forever:rotfl:

The website they link doesn't work. Or it's crashed lol. Or I'm a dummy and didn't notice the Feb 12th start date. Either way, doesn't do me much good for my trip in March. Hoping to eat there anyway.

Me too in March:)

I am not one for Asian cuisine much but I do want to eventually try Morimoto in some capacity. There are maybe two things I would eat on the canteen menu.

We will be going there in March.

I'm more for he hangar bar in my next stop...for sure.

We plan to go there in March.

Did I mention that I am going to Disney in March:rolleyes1

What no $69 cupcake bar? :(

Maybe they'll bring back the animal poo desserts:rotfl2: I was bummed that I never got to try one. They could call it a Dessert Potty:rotfl:

It's easy to notice when you family has about 80 of them. Our october ones were the old style.

Finally they have started to transition away from the wasteful approach. It actually aggravated me how they have handled mass producing these things at the rollout.

It will likely be like WoC or Fantasmic (returning soon to a River of America near you) at Disneyland, in which you get a FP or return time to enter into the show audience. This will either be done in Park or using one of your FP+ pre-booked selections. This controls crowd flow and allows you to have a reserved spot for one of the multiple shows that will be shown daily.

Yeah - I'm thinking they probably try to install what they have out in California - the day-of FP. I'm really surprised they haven't done this for Fantasmic! yet at DHS. I know they were testing it. The masses at WDW are a lot more ignorant of systems like this than in California though...but I'm thinking with the new show they will probably make it almost entirely FP seating, with a stand-by section that has "no guarantees of seating" attached.

It looks like you will no longer see Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters. So no more darth vader goofy, darth maul duck, Princess Leia Minnie, or Luke skywalker Mickey. I've heard Kathleen Kennedy didn't like that.

I both get this and dislike it.

If you're supposed "in" Star Wars then you shouldn't be seeing Goofy Vader wandering around.

On the other hand those characters are fun so I sort of wish maybe they could be used outside of DHS or something.

I had heard that a while back. I wasn't sure if it was just for M&G characters or merchandise also. The crossover action figures were fairly popular.

Just curious, and I am sure some of you know - but what are some of the benefits to Disney for these hotels. I am thinking more financial terms. Are hotels on this property just paying Disney for the use of the property? Does Disney get any sort of percentage of profit that Marriott gets from the property. I would guess it is similiar to the hotels by DS, but what does Disney get for those hotels I guess would be my question if the flamingo crossing hotels are under the same sort of situation as those. Just always had me curious and I know little about it

Old news - is there a new source? Like an official source? This has been talked about for over a year now, and at least a small part of why SWW are going away. (Supposedly she also hated the Hyperspace Hoopla.) I'm with @Eoghann. I both get it and don't get it. Seems to me that Darth Vader and Stormtroopers are "out of character" the second they start posing for pictures.

Not the first time I've heard this, but the first time I've heard the reason. I love that the characters "cosplay". I would line up to get a picture of Stitch dressed as Palpatine. I hope they find a way to let this happen in the future. Minnie's parties at H&V are perfect for such a thing... even if it happed once every 5 years. This type of activity enhances the franchise, it doesn't diminish or disrespect it.

They certainly should not appear INSIDE Star Wars Land, but anywhere outside of it, I don't see the problem.

I'm definitely going to be completing my Stitch/Star Wars collection next time I'm in town, just in case.

Disney sold the land to Marriott so that's really all they get out of this.

No just more talk that it's officially happening on wdwmagic I don't think this is something Disney would confirm. I know it's old but interesting it was brought up again.

This sums it up well, but I still land on the disapointed side. I knew this was rumored a while back but was hoping it wasn't true. I'm a huge Star Wars fan but had never made it down for Star Wars weekends. I think it's really cool that it combined two things I really loved and I hate I'll never get to meet any of those characters. Especially Chip and Dale Ewoks and Darth Goofy.

Ehh...I've seen Mickey in 86 different outfits over the years. It's neat, but tired at this point. I paid for the diver Mickey once...it jumped the shark there.

It's a bigger problem highlighted for me - Too much concern for m&g over real additions to the parks

They wouldn't do it if people didn't love it enough to come.
