News Round Up 2016

I agree. If you have a large group, or 2 families. This would be a great perk, especially since you get reserved parade and fireworks viewing!! I bet that will be in the Plaza Gardens.
Just walked by them. Would be ideal for folks touring a bigger group IMO.

MK is spectacular as usual this time of year.

Already looks much better than the 2nd movie. Pays homage to "Doc" as well.

Wow - that's an awful dark trailer for a Cars movie. Also I remember when Cars came out being impressed by the animation, but this little teaser is simply stunning to the degree it almost seems photo real.

Unlike many people, I liked the original Cars movie a lot. (Cars 2 still probably the worst Pixar movie, though.) I think the themes around this movie could make for very interesting story fodder..not that different from Toy Story 2 and 3 that way. (What happens when your time has passed?)

What was the homage to "Doc" though?

Doc ended his racing career with a major crash exactly like that trailer shows Lightning McQueen.

Good point, so did "The King" in the 1st movie as well. I don't think this is an "end of career" crash though - my impression is we are looking at a case where he gets knocked out early but then comes back and learns that he is maybe not as fast but he is wiser and uses his smarts to win the big race one last time.

Love this Lassiter quote:
“Lightning McQueen, he’s awesome. We’ve got some great new characters, some great racing in it. It’s a very emotional story. It’s a little bit more akin to ‘Cars 1,’ where you get into a deep emotion with him,” John Lasseter told EW about the film, while tipping his hat the late Paul Newman who voiced Doc Hudson in the original movie. “It’s really a special story. It’s very emotional and his relationship with Doc Hudson, and his memory of Doc Hudson.”

In other words: "We know Cars 2 wasn't very good."

I will say I'm more excited for this one now.

I definitely want to see more to fully judge obviously, but at first glace my kids will never want to see this as it is too dark and scary - almost doesn't seem like a kids movie ... looks like real cars not fun, cute Cars

Though I am sure that is just us and it will make like a bajillion dollars

This isn't also just a teaser, I'm sure the real trailer won't be like this.

I seriously doubt that this will be the tone of the movie. I just think that it was all about envoking Cars 1 and NOT Cars 2. My guess is the first real trailer will be much lighter.

I'm in an even smaller minority in that I didn't hate Cars 2. Was it as good as 1? No, but I never found it as awful as it is made out to be. That said, it took me at least a few seconds to realize this was animated. This could take animation to a different level. I'm excited for this now.

I didn't say I hated Cars 2. I said it was the weakest Pixar movie and not nearly as good as 1. (Actually - Good Dinosaur might be worse - that may be the only Pixar movie I actively dislike.) It was an entertaining enough movie, but I would put it on par with middling Dreamworks efforts where after watching it once I enjoyed it but don't care if I see it again.

understood and agree - as I said, will want to wait to see more ... just thinking what was shown so far could be jarring to some kids whereas the first movies (and planes, etc.) were definitely targeted right at kids ... though maybe they are going for the teenagers who were little kids when the first one came out

It'd be hard to be worse than the 2nd movie. Cars is actually in my top 3 of Pixar movies. I thought Cars 2 should have been, at best, a straight to DVD movie. I thought it was atrociously awful.

This trailer makes me a bit more excited for the 3rd. If anyone cares, the excitement level for number 3 before this trailer was at a 0 for me.

An animator for this movie said on Twitter that this is her favorite of the 3 Cars movies. Take that for what its worth of course.

More add ons for Disney. A Festuval of Fantasy liberty belle ice cream social.

Even though I've just been ranting about Disney charging for extras...this article made me think of the one extra I would be throwing money at Disney to experience, which is rare characters. I guess Naveen counts as rare since he doesn't meet regularly anymore.

I'm curious as to why Disney hasn't tapped this extra source of income yet. That villain party they threw, while it may have been a disaster, didn't that show Disney how many people were willing to pay for rare character meets?

Unlike pretty much everybody, I have Cars as my solid favorite Pixar movie (although Inside Out may end up toppling it over time).

(Cars 2 still probably the worst Pixar movie, though.)

Yeah, on that one I'm fully in line with the majority.

This has the feel of Days of Thunder. Hot Shot racer with great skills, devastating accident caused by villain, world changed, faces much adversity, love interest guides him through adversity, lessons are learned though adversity, uses lessons to win in a new way and beat the villain, hot shot racer celebrates as credits roll.

I thought it was kind of odd, too. They have had a notice up on the website for a little while.
FWIW, I just received an email notifying me that the confirmation number as well as the phone number to contact them regarding my reservation as changed as they have upgraded their system.
