News Round Up 2016

As a runner this doesn't effect me this year but Disney couldn't have put this out any later. People have or are leaving for marathon weekend already and have costumes ready. Bad communication on their part.

Skimming thru the rules it looks like they've banned practically every Disney costume except possibly Jan-Michael Vincent from The World's Greatest Athlete.

That's what you get for running it past the insurance and security reps at the last minute ...

The second parking garage should be done in the spring. STK should be done in a month or two. Edison probably closer to the end of the year. Town center will probably open in sections as it finishes.

The garage will probably be open by Spring, but it might not be done. They haven't even finished the first garage yet, the permit was just extended until June.

It might be an issue for a 5k or 10k, but are people really wearing costumes that are that big or long in the half marathon? I can't imagine do a half marathon in Jedi Robes, unless there was a freak very cold spell. But even then, after a while you would want to ditch the robe. I think most people will probably be fine. Cape length could be an issue though. They should have announced them earlier, like when they announced the new park rules.

Yes usually the more elaborate costumes are for the smaller races but you'd be surprised what some people wear. I just thought they could've done this sooner than they did.

Star Wars is now the #1 Domestic movie of all time with a gross of $750Million after Monday's receipts.

To clarify since it was asked in another thread: Avatar is reported with 2 numbers. $749 Million and $760 Million. The $749 is the initial release of the movie. The $760 is after the Imax/3D re-release to promote the 3D Blu-Ray.
While its clear that Star Wars will pass both, it passed the initial release of the movie yesterday.

Realizing it took avatar until March to pass $700 million. This movie did it in just over two weeks, which is astounding. Avatar was at about $390 million on the day TFA crossed $700 million - meaning Avatar made $250 million from this point on. Jurassic Park was about $500 million at this point.

Star Wars has zero competition until maybe Zoolander 2 and even then probably not. Expect somewhere between $900 million and $1 billion domestic - which is completely insane and probably something that won't be broken for at least 10 years. (It's unlikely Rouge One will have the pull.)

Not sure if it will catch Avatar's worldwide gross - which is $2.7 billion - but it hasn't opened in China yet. However, Star Wars isn't the cultural phenomenon in the rest of the world that it is in the US. (For instance - avatar did $162 million in Germany, but TFA has only done $80 million - though after 3 weeks in Germany Avatar had only done $53 million.)

Normally I don't get so into box office, but I find these world-shattering records fascinating....Both Avatar and Titantic were such long slow builds - TFA was not remotely that, but it still should hold well - I just don't know about holding into March like those movies did.

Unfortunately it has practically no shot at the WW record now. I'm just hoping for passing 1B domestic, and Titanic WW.

So we checked in. We were supposed to be club level at yacht club. They switched us to the beach club yesterday. They forgot to add our club level to that tho so we got a room on the first floor looking over the lagoon. And for Inconvenience of them forgetting our club level service they gave a $100 credit!

I found this rather amusing and hadn't seen it posted around here. Coming off his big victory over the tax issue in Anaheim, DAK Mike is now one of the most influential people in Orange County CA (or so says OCR). More interesting is how Disneyland pitched the idea to the Town Committee and it has information on the parking structure breaking ground.

Disney stock slid 2% yesterday and is in danger of going below $100 again...

Cause: "espn...and lack of sales drivers AFTER the release of Star Wars"

Uh oh...batten down the hatches.

This company has been riding artificially high for too long...and that is why we as consumers are starting to get pummeled at the turnstiles...

There probably won't be a better time for the customer to stiffen and do what nancy Reagan told us to do...

But instead "how magical is POR?"

:)
