News Round Up 2016

My first thought, is this topic needs to go away. Rteetz has given his view, and this is his personal choice. As Elsa would say... ;)

Secondly, it is to the sites benefit to have people staying longer. Having them click the main forum and seeing potentially more topics that may or may not be of interest is valuable to this site. It does not make money by creating a single thread that people direct link to and never look anywhere else. Value from forums come from people spending time and going into more threads than they would normally default to.

We can discuss the business and logic and technical and amount of time and effort all we want. Rteetz owns his time, has stated his decision and why (multiple times, this discussion was held when he made the change already). There's reason for and against, and he's stated his approach. This needs its own PM or thread please - this is as OT as you can get.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Well, that better be worth it.

seriously - just the money ... $40m plus for the site they are building the garage and then $32m for the hotel just to knock it down to build the walkway bridge

but yeah, gotta cut park hours and get rid of a night time parade at WDW to save some expenses ;)

Just saw the trailer in a commercial break from the Olympics - looks good!

Aerial Photos

Some amazing new photos from above Pandora.

2 side notes from out last trip:
1) When we parked the car at Animal Kingdom the parking attendant told us that if we look up to our left we will see our first exhibit - the crane!
2) From the front / before you enter the park, you can clearly make out the show buildings so not sure if they are going to do rock work all around the sides/back as well or put up some sort of screening or something but it was cleary visible without really searching for it

Looks good but also looks a long way from finished. Sounds like those late 2017 rumors might be true.
Actually, based on insiders info, what you see is on schedule. They are right on target with the outside stuff. it is the new technology on the inside that MIGHT delay. So what you see in these pictures doesn't indicate it is behind at all.

It will probably get painted "Go Away Green" and then they'll eventually grow trees in front of it.

that was my first thought too - but those would have to be some pretty big trees - unless they think the trees that are already there will grow more over time. here is a picture I took for reference (note, you can also see some smaller "floating islands" over the main building that I assume will have a forced perspective effect to them):

Couldn't they also just paint a realistic looking treeline onto the building, or is that a dumb idea I just had?
