News Round Up 2016

I think you also have to look at the fact that around a 5th of Disneyland is completely out of use right now from rivers of America, Tom Sawyer island, the train, and the 14 acres Star Wars is being built on. Disneyland wants to get it done as soon as possible.

Very true...

It's not like MGM where half the park is decayed/shuttered at a higher ticket price ;)

(Come on...just too easy)

I disagree with you on this one, Pete...

Carsland was not less ambitious...and it was part of a massive park reworking with ancillary stuff...I would say similar to the last 3 years at DAK...

Star Wars land:..which I'm sure Iger has overfunded for theming due to his desire to call attention to one of his "trophies"...is going to be a dark ride and a simulator housing behind facades...

RSR...I saw somewhere...had the most man hours invested in construction (estimated) in Disney history...which would mean world history.

I think Star Wars land is going to be IP reliant more than physical construction reliant...just a hunch

Yes but DHS isn't a flagship park like Disneyland is. You also don't have a cult of AP holders that have more pull than anyone at WDW has ever had.

You hit it there...

Crowds are light In Cali...and thats the hot poker out there on this...

Now what if the travel wave is slumping in Florida - we see a developing consensus that it is - does that kick it up in Florida?

Probably not...bad consumers :)

What they did to Infinity is near criminal and is a bigger reflection of the new Disney than anything else is is my mind.

The announcement was almost shock. I still sometimes don't believe and forget this is happening.

Even if they wanted to shut down the group you'd think they could license it out to another developer or something. They had to have been making a fortune on those figures and playsets

Reign of Kong is officially open

http://www.**************.net/2016/...-ceremony-at-universal-orlando-welcomes-fans/

After thinking about it for a while, I have to say this ride somewhat dissapointed me (purely based on the online POV's and such). I know a lot of people have a lot to say about Universal's use of screens, but I just feel like after striking the perfect balance between screens and real sets with Forbidden Journey, Gringotts and Kong feel more or less like glorified 4D theaters in my book... That being said, I do have to actually experience Kong before making a final judgement. Then again, a big part of the ride looks very similar to what Universal Hollywood already has.

The article still has it listed as rumor, but Louis is in the show again!
Now if we could get Tic Toc back in FoF, that would be wonderful

saw this posted on Facebook - so he is definitely in the show:

You can work on the inside and outside at the same time. Avatar was done that way. foundations for rock work and buildings were started at about the same time. Avatar has a crazy amount of rock work though.

Sure, but you still have to actually *build* the building before you can start work on the inside.

I don't think Star Wars Land in 18 months is a good thing.

The only way you make that happen is by really skimping on the details....

Rumor

As said by Spirit and my Rumor Round up article, Spirit says the "Rearranging" of Anaheim should happen tomorrow.

Rumor

Star Wars land is being aimed to open at DHS by Christmas 2019. Disneyland's would be before that.

I know that feels a long way off, but it is already mid-2016. 3.5 years for that when they are still finishing Pandora and have Toy Story Land to do as well doesn't feel too bad really for something of this scale ... and this is definitely one thing I'd rather they take bit of extra time to get 100% right

We take an Orlando vacation every December and the completion dates line up great for us to see new things every trip.

2016: New Soarin, Frozen, AK nighttime, ROL (hopefully), Galactic Spectacular, and Disney Springs.
2017: Avatar
2018: Toy Story Land
2019: Star Wars Land
