News Round Up 2016

I wish they'd dump the deal with champion...

The run Disney stuff is way too high priced for that look/quality...

It's only a matter of time till UA rules the world
I like the RunDisney race shirts for the most part but the other merchandise is just okay. I also like the I did it shirts.

UA clothing is great but their shoes aren't as good. I'd much rather have a pair of nikes (which I actually have about 30 pairs of). Sorry I'm a bit of a shoe freak.

I was almost a Nike only from 1985-2010 (tried new balance but didn't like...had a pair of sauconys or two that I liked)

...but once you go Brooks...you never go back

And nikes are really ugly these days...too much into their own hype. I don't want a "basketball take" on a running shoe...or a baseball cleat...and that's pretty much All they do now.

Different strokes for different folks

I don't have any brooks but I do have two new balance shoes I use for running that I like. My Stats teacher this past year is actually a brooks sponsored runner.

I just bought a pair of Jordan's yesterday...

I can't blame them for using something that works. I wonder if their second gate was/is going to be explorers/adventurer themed.

Agree...

They might as well put a fence around it and some zebras out there though...to complete the effect.

Just nothing with horns...they won't last long (yuck yuck)

I'm late to the party but I'd love to see something new and different for Indiana Jones. Zip lines, obstacle courses and rope courses are hot right now. I think it would be really cool to see something along those lines themed around all of those cool Indiana Jones chase scenes. It would be really popular if done well with the ages that often age out of Disney and move over to Universal and would differentiate it from Universal. It would also be fun for bystanders to watch.

I know it'll never happen though because of the fear of lawsuits when the inevitable injury occurs. :(

NEWS

I didn't see it posted on this thread, but looks like Disney sneakily posted the Eat to The Beat concert dates on their website:

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/entertainment/epcot/food-wine-eat-to-the-beat-concerts/

Also, Disney Food Blog seems to have the culinary experiences and wine/beverage seminar dates. For those that haven't tried these, it's actually a reasonably inexpensive experience where for the culinary experience the chef shows you how to prepare the dish, and then provide a sample and usually a glass of wine with it. Probably one of the least expensive things you can do with Food and Wine - $15 - and takes about an hour.

The Disneyland Resort has unveiled a new piece of concept art from Star Wars Land that seems to show a fairly accurate depiction of this new land (at least the DL version) considering that the new design for the Rivers of America and the railway is being included.

DHS's should be too different but it will be a little bit because of the configuration.

If it looks close to that concept art it's going to look amazing.

Star Wars fireworks are also only currently scheduled until September 5th, and it was only very recently extended until then. It's really frustrating trying to plan a trip for September 10-18 with no nighttime stuff announced for two parks yet, especially with FP+ opening up tomorrow.

Really frustrating planning RDR's for December too when you don't know if AK really closes at 5pm or will be open until 7pm-8pm for night time shows and don't know if the Star Wars show will continue.

I'm curious if there is anything forsale anywhere in North America that you don't feel is overpriced? :)

Yeah. As I think more about it, I think they did a great job in designing the overall atmosphere of the planet the land is based on. For DHS any planet would be a lot easier to work with, but at DL everything has to blend really well with the overall image of the park as well as the natural aspect of that side of the park (with Rivers of America and Big Thunder right in front). They even placed the taller rock towers in the back so they are not extremely visible from the rest of the park.

Hopefully this is a faithful representation of the final design.

I think it has to be faithful to the final design because they are getting ready to start putting in foundations and what not. The demolition is pretty much done. They've already started building the new "berm" and configuring the river.
