News Round Up 2016

How long is the ride?

Is it short like Maelstrom was? Hoping it's a little longer.

I never rode Maelstrom so I can't give that comparison, but wikipedia has it listed at 5 minutes.
They were able to tell a complete story in those 5 minutes. While I would love for it to be longer simply because I really enjoy the story, I didn't leave feeling like something was missing or that it needed an extra minute or two (which is how I feel with Peter Pan and Mine Train).

5 minutes is a good length for a ride. I think a "proper" ride should last a minimum of 4 minutes. Maelstrom was listed on Wikipedia as 4:27, 7DMT is listed at 2:50. (Roller coasters are more typically in the 3-4 minute range, so while 7DMT is a little on the short side, it isn't by very much.

To put it in perspective on how maelstrom was, that first scene with Olaf and Sven and then the trolls is where the load station was for maelstrom. The s shaped bend was added to give some length to the ride which it did about 30 seconds.

What part of the ride is using the old theater area for Maelstrom? I wasn't sure.

The queue was also fantastic. I could easily spend time in there just taking everything in. Same with the Royal Summerhus (which a very kind CM told me is pronounced Summer-Hoose). They are Tangled bathroom level of detail.

Does the FP+ line skip all the queue detail or do you get to see some of it?

We went through almost all of the queue, though I'm not sure if that was because standby was closed or not. Both lines walk completely through the queue almost side by side, the FP side just has less switchbacks.

The merge point is also pretty deep in. So while the FP line may not see as many of the finer details along the edge, everyone still walks through the center of the town square and gets to experience it (unlike rides like HM which start out together but then FP completely bypasses everything)

Sorry if that's not the best explanation. Since they had half-merged the two queues, it was hard to visualize where we would have gone if standby was open

Well - I guess this is only useful if you are planning on doing it anyways. You have to complete THREE missions for the FP+, that's about a hour spent running around adventureland. The game is cute, but one mission is enough for most.

So is the point of this promotion to get people doing something other than standing in lines?

That is helpful. I just know with like the new Peter Pan queue the FP line skips all of it so just wondering if this was the same, but sounds like you get to take in the majority of it

Perhaps this has lost popularity and they are trying to find a way to boost it. Three missions is a little much. We did two on one trip, but they are kind of repetitive.
