News Round Up 2016

I can't say I know a lot about the subject, but I really doubt they spent 3 billion on MM+ Additionally, I'd think the drastic price increases would've started back in 2012/13, not until now if that was the case.
Well I don't know. It's been stated by several sources that mymagic+ was an over $2 billion project. You also have to look at it this way a tech upgrade like that isn't a one and done type investment like an attraction is. Things keep evolving you're always paying for upgrades and system maintenance, you have to pay for magicbands too, then they are adding things like storymaker which adds costs. Spirit says we could be approaching $4 billion which I think is high but I don't think $3 billion is out of the question at this point.

I hope these are all overblown rumors from someone trying to get the market to question Disney leadership. Otherwise, on so many levels this is a horrendous failure. Epic. Case study in every MBA class for the next 20 years level. And I'm talking at the $2Billion level. $3 Billion is unfathomable.

Its 1:20am... so that should be a good indicator.

I'm excited for Shanghai, I have no idea about the rides since I find video to be lacking. However I do find it ironic that everyone wants a good POV video, but no one wants the guy taking the POV to be in the vehicle with them. :D

I think back to the rides I've been on - have you ever watched a POV of WDW Peter Pan? Yeah. Not exactly exciting. Mine train - same thing. The immersion can't be captured in a video, so my excitement is based more on a new Disney park, new types of rides mixed with classics. The actual pictures and videos won't do much for me because a big part of Disney is all the little things and immersion not captured in pics and videos. ;)

Finally caught up! Fantastic everyone!!! Thank you for all the Shanghai pics and videos. It looks amazing! I am hoping to visit in about 15 more years! :)

Disney really should be an MBA class study. Their management is not normal. Like I said I think spirit is exaggerating at $4 billion but around $3 billion may not be out of the question.

Spirited Rumor update
Cuts at WDW are 50% Shanghai related and 50% MyMagic+ related and no the cuts are here to stay they won't end in the summer.
.

Can imagine they won't end in the summer. Likely some things will gradually phase back in as allowed, but yeah I don't imagine the tight purse strings are going to end any time.

Nope - they are just like every corporation out there - "Must Squeeze more profits up to keep Wall Street happy! Not just increasing profits but must increase profit margins! Customers don't matter! Employees don't matter!"

This is a broader argument - but squeezing profits and margins is road to big trouble - it's all going to fall and collapse in on itself. When I say all of it, I mean the national/world economy. And when it does everyone will be saying "we all should've seen it coming". Good news is when it happens, we won't be complaining about park crowds.

I had to stop watching. Mr "Woah" couldn't keep his mouth shut, the rest of them couldn't keep their flashes in check, and his camera has a focus problem. :/
The flashes are going to be a common occurrence in China.

Shanghai might be getting a marvel coaster.

Spirit says the MyMagic+ costs may be past $3 billion now.

Shanghai phase 2 is moving ahead at lightening speed. The rumored DCA captain America coaster will get reskinned to iron man or spider man for Shanghai. An Everest clone and an Alice trackless ride also in the works.

ToonTown (Roger Rabbit stays everything else goes) at Disneyland is going to get Frozen...

ok, most shocking and most upsetting is the changing Toontown to Frozen ... that will be such a loss as Toontown is really neat and my kids loved it! I like Frozen and all but getting rid of Mickey's dang home!

any reports on if they are happy with how it turned out? Like, clearly it is over budget but is the result what they were expecting?
