News Round Up 2016

Finally. I wonder if they're adding them to DL with the whole Honda sponsorship thing going on. They are really necessary at both MK and DL.
I think it's very possible at Disneyland. At MK I'm not so sure because management hates shutting down rides at MK especially a ride like that which is always busy.

Rumor

Soarin around the world opens June 17th at DCA and Epcot a day after it does at Shanghai.

I was so hoping this was going to be open for my trip, it's my favourite ride! I leave on 5 June so it doesn't look as though i'll being luck! Sounds like 17 June is pretty final?

Thanks for all of the updates!

Probably. It stands to reason that they'd want it to be a debut at the new park, even if it would only be exclusive for 24 hours.

That extra million is also tax deductible and nets them a bunch of free press. Call my a cynic but I'm not so impressed by the donation.

Oh I'm well aware of the tax deduction and the press. All in all, I'm just over it. The crap they're pulling just gets more and more eyeroll worthy as we go. I'm also aware that when I stop going, there will be 2 more to take my place. Good on them. They won't care that Disney ain't what it used to be. I have no problem with change and progress, but progress for the sake of progress is BS IMO. And all these cuts? They ain't progress by any means.

It's very likely because Shanghai wants to be exclusive and debut it first.

Wow Disney even gets criticism when they make donations. That's just sad. So many people here taking away from what used to be a good thread

Actually - can I say this is a terrible example of placeholder Baloney. It shows every day that there isn't a MNSSHP that MK closes at 9 PM which is complete bunk. It shows no MSEP and Wishes, It shows DHS closes at 7:30 PM every night until October 13th and then 7 PM the rest of the month, but Fantasmic is still at 7:30 PM. It shows AK from 9 AM to 5 PM every day of the month, which again is clearly wrong.

I guess I can hope the EMH days are at least right - but seems like this is nearly completely worthless in helping with planning.

1. Duh
2. Duh but phase 2? What phase 2?
3. I think Disney would be much harder to hurt than seaworld or ringling bros. Plus Disney holding elephants is no different than any zoo in the country.
2. my guess is phase 2, is whatever might be behind schedule. A ride might not be ready for primetime. Thinking 7dmt and NFL as the trend setter.

He is the only one saying this will open on phases though. And the boat ride and flying banshee ride buildings are connected.

Guests buy a ticket and get access to Magic Kingdom for three hours after park close, including select attractions and meet & greets.

Tickets go on sale April 6th for select dates in April and May only.

Dates of the events are April 14th, 21st, 28th, and May 5th, 8th, 12th, & 19th. Tickets are $149 plus tax each for children or adults.

At that price, we imagine space is very, very limited and lines should be almost non-existent.

No word yet on if that price includes the rest of your day in the park or not.

$149 for 3 hours?! What? Maybe we could pay the extra $15 for premium parking as well. Is this the end of extra magic hours? Disney is really getting ridiculous with the money grabs.

My absolute first thought. :sad2:

Will make it so easy to book all offsite now because that was the only perk I really cared about. :D

This would be the end of parties if this was successful. I mean, why spend all that extra on parades and specialties when people would pay more for just three hours after close without any other enticement?

This makes my point about the long-term rumors such as this. They are fun to discuss but never worth getting worked up about.

As in this example: Rumors come out that Frontierland expansion is planned. They circulate for a while. Then a source (same source?) says that the idea was shelved because it was crazy. Source can't be doubted in this way. Same could be said in 6 months about the ToT idea - it was shelved. Maybe its all true, maybe it isn't, but again - not worth getting worked up over.

I on the other hand really enjoy discussing and speculating on those sorts of rumors.

Because the alternative is what... wait with baited breath for the announcement of the next desert party?
