News Round Up 2016

I've seen the same type of situation...45 minute waits.

Which is sad because I like spaceship...but I have to skip it.

Just no...not going to bother when they've done such an awful job in strategic planning in their parks...really across the board.

It seems to really get crowds later morning through mid-afternoon ... I think people that arrive see that as the first attraction and get in the first line they see. So that, combined with the FP+'s that people have at the same time builds the crowds. But seams like once you get to evening the line goes down a lot

Free dining has been slowly diminishing for years. Now you have to buy a hopper ticket (or WP&M) to get it. Who knows where it goes next. I doubt they would say you have to buy a higher priced pass than is normally necessary at that time. They'll just restrict, restrict, restrict.

I think the step might be to require more nights. Last year I think you only needed 4 nights. I can see it going up to a week at some point. I can also see them only offering in September.

I think it is the ticket requirement that is killing free dining for me personally. We usually have annual passes so we don't need to buy more tickets.

I do miss the good old days of free dining. Our first year using it we stayed at a value for about $60 a night and had the free table service plan.

With AP you reasonably should be able to find an "up to 35% off room" offer that aligns with free dining dates. You'd save more this way even if you pay for a dining plan on top.

For those who have discussed the Nintendo land project at Universal - it looks like we will have Star Wars before we have anything Nintendo based.

Also looks like the next ride on the chopping block at USF is Shrek. Terminator lives on to be mediocre another day.

Also, maps leaked showing an expansion of USF into the backlot area behind the stage/Rip Ride Rockit. This could be the Secret Lives of Pets ride getting moved from IOA over to USF... which doesn't make much sense considering the old tony hawk theater at IOA is totally abandoned.

For the record, most Universal rumors come from a guy who goes by the name "unknown". He recently fired up a twitter account. While he seems to have been way off on the starting date for testing the Kong rides Trams, he is generally right on the money. He obviously works in the parks in some capacity as he often posts behind the scenes pictures. He recently fired up a twitter account that has some pretty neat pics of not only things to come, but nostalgic looks back on previous events.

Unlike guys like Jim Hill, I've never seen him toss conjecture out there and in general, he has a very strong track record with very specific details. As an example, he recently laid out, scene by scene, how the Secret Lives of Pets ride would be laid out, including which scenes were based on animatronics.

Sorry lockedoutlogic, not all rumor sources are the same weight.

I find it interesting that they are already building an attraction dedicated to an IP (Secret Lives of Pets) that no one knows yet if it will be successful or not . I'm very skeptical about it personally. First time I saw the trailer, I immediately thought..."It's a 'Toy Story' ripoff with pets instead of toys".

Wait a minute...so are their electronic ticket boards In place now?

Something still isn't right here...they're Increasing prices in 48 and haven't bothered with the hardware?

I think the International Gateway had the screen in place when we were there in January. It was displaying an image to make it look the current artwork on the other ticket booth that wasn't electronic.

I wonder if they might just be testing tiered pricing at DL first? They could implement this at WDW any time if they choose to wait.

They could implement the tiered pricing without electronic screens in place (it's not that hard to have a board and update it after all).

On the one hand it seems like doing it in both locations concurrently makes sense.
On the other hand, the complexity of WDW might require them to wait to execute there.

The real wildcard here is MGM...it could get to be ugly/a really tough sell if crowd levels rise there and nothing to eat them up.

It's not Epcot...it's not like ambience will distract you too much
