:teacher: Hi everyone, since a lot of us want to buy APs before we go so we can use the discount to book room only via Disney, I thought I'd share this new information I just found out from fellow diser tracyg who will be sponsoring my families APs for our trip in April.
Previously we had thought that you could not get sposorship discount when applying via post (otherwise we would have done this already!), but tracy went to the AP office this past weekend and found out that it is fine to apply via post using sponsorship forms! Bonus!
I know most of us are waiting until we arrive to get our APs but this way we can get 10% sponsorship discount off the price of our APs before we go then book our room only with discount!!
So if we get our APs in time, we're going to cancel our expedia booking and call Disney Direct and see if we can get HNY!!
I'll let you know how it goes!
:yay:

in the very useful info sticky there is a link to the AP thread, in there somewhere i think should be the link to the french AP site i think?!
but if you are getting sponsored your sponsor should have the forms for you.
HTH

Are you sure that this is not just that the sponsorer can apply to have their renewal completed by post.

If in fact the person being sponsored can send in the form it will be interesting to see who the AP bureau send it back to? The person purchasing the AP; therefore putting the onus on the buyer or to the sponsorer; whose details are both on the form and on their system.

Interesting in hearing how this development goes :)

Also you need to check you will not lose your money by cancelling your booking with expedia, i'm not sure if they are like other travel companies where the closer you get to your trip the more money you lose.

yes I'm also curious, but tracy was there in person this past weekend and spoke to the CM in the AP office in the park and they told her it would be fine, I hope it will work out ok for us.
And yes depending on what the cancellation charge is, we may or may not change hotel, but here's to optimism!

Let us know how you got on, as i will prob do this :)

Am I right as well to think that if you apply for AP by post it starts on that date rather than first time its used which means if you apply too far in advance you are losing out on quite a few months

Edit: Just read something on another thread which says it has to be activated within 30 days so I assume AP will start from date of activation not date of purchase

That's right, although not a lot of help with getting room only discount since leaving a booking so late may make it difficult with current increased hotel occupancy :)

I found out, just in case the postal APs thing does work (I hope it does!), I have up til the 8th April to cancel with Expedia with a £15 penalty, so it might be possible after all!
Here's to waiting and seeing!

I was just thinking, looking at the form from the above link, you need to attach photos, so do you think it wouldn't have to go to the AP office to get the 'proper' pass, would they send the 'proper' pass straight away? In which case of course it would start from the day they make it.

EDIT i just read on the form they ask you to give a date to start the AP but it mustn't be more than 30 days in advance of receiving the forms, so i could send them mid march. so duh same condition applies,

I've also been thinking, I don't think I will apply by post as I don't want to miss out just in case they continue the under 7 free annual pass, I also doubt that we'll change hotel since we got a fairly good price for our room.
The dates we're going are too close to the time the new offers and tickets are likely to come out, not allowing time to change plans.
But then I wonder if maybe the AP prices will go up in April?
I don't know what to do now, advice please someone?!

I received the forms today, but the thought occurred to me, that since I can apply by post and get Sposor discount, do you think i could apply for the free AP by post too, i don't remember reading anything that says you couldn't do that, should I call and ask?
what are you thoughts?

Remember you cannot combine the sponsor and free AP offer :)

I'd agree worth giving them a call.

will someone be able to speak english?!
I also worry if i speak to a cm who isn't fully clued up?

I always ask to speak to someone in English. If necessary the CM will transfer you to someone who can converse.
I've always found CMs on the phone from the AP bureau very helpful :)

thanks reid, that's a relief, i don't feel so frightened to call now, is it 0825825100?
or is that a france only number?

I've always called the French AP number (not got it to hand) regarding AP queries but perhaps others have experience of phoning the UK number?
