Hi all,

Stayed at the Yacht Club from 12/27 to 1/1. Some little tidbits:

-The Beach Club will start to have its rooms refurbished in the same manner as the Yacht Club did last year. I must say, the new furnishings in the Yacht are wonderful. The concierge floor at the Beach Club will be closed in January to start the renovations (fifth floor).

-Don't count your chickens before they're hatched alert: According to my source, the Spain pavilion negotiations have hit a snag. Even as the mini-pavilion is being kept open with Spanish cast members (LOVED the sherry), there is some disagreement about the main pavilion contract (suprise, suprise).

-The walls on the top of the Mexican pavilion (the pyramid--Aztec or Mayan?) have been removed and replaced with glass. It is quite easy to notice. Does anyone know what this is for? Is it a new premium Illuminations viewing location?

-During the busy new year's period, the decline in preventative maintenance was evident. I was evacuated from both the Great Movie Ride and Big Thunder Mountain due to a breakdown; fast pass broke down on Space Mountain, Big Thunder, and the Tower of Terror; Test Track opened late due to mechanical problems on both the 31st and 1st. Maybe I just had bad luck on this past trip, but it seemed like there were more problems than usual.

-As I state after every trip, PLEASE give the WDW POTC a much needed rehab! It is disheartening when the lips of the audioanimotronics don't even quiver when they are supposed to be speaking.

-Timekeeper was open!

-From the dining area for the Flame Tree BBQ, people in my party and I saw some wooden steaks in the ground with orange tape wrapped around them--just to the right of the Kali Rapids along the water (someone brought binoculars to look at animals, they spotted them--they definately were NOT water plants). Could these be test measurements for that E-ticket we used to hear grumblings about?

-Apparently, the pleading has begun again by the studio to bring Indy to that park.

-The groundbreaking for Hong Kong Disneyland will happen this month, and the park will not be as "minimal" as we have heard (at least according to my source--he was headed there).

Show control for IllumiNations is located at the top of the Mexico pavillion, rooftop access at Epcot is strictly enforced.

As far as the breakdowns you experienced, I'd chalk those up to bad luck... there are many possible reasons for a ride stopping, and many of those require an evacuation.

We are set to be at YC in exactly 2 weeks. Was there construction noise . . . . hammers, drills, etc.???

When we visited in October large portions of SAB were closed - is that still the case? I doubt we will have warm enough weather to swim but just wondering.

Thanks for your post.

VERY happy BC is being redone. We're going this July.

That's probably just some work for the horticultural department.

Oh yes, it is. Disney has already publicly announced it's offerings. I'll see if I can get them posted here later.

I guess you had some bad luck because i have never been removed from a ride at wdw in the manner you were. I would agree with Steve that breakdowns can and will ahppen and doesnt have to mean the park is suffering.
