news about the parade.......

ok, only just seen this on magicforums, and thought id post.....

From January until March the parade will be cut to just 5 floats! Imagination, Friendship, Fantasy, Power and Romance 2 (floats subject to change)..... this is so the parade is short enough to travel up Main Street around the hub and back down Main Street without crashing into itself and will pass from Town Square, around the castle hub and back down Main Street leaving the park through the same doors in Town Square. This is because they are repairing all the floor in Fantasyland and around Castle Stage.

From April, you can create your own "magical moments" with "all new" totally interactive show-stops that invite you to take to the street and interact with the dancers and characters like never before! There are lots of other changes planned too from next year. watch this space

so - anyone going after xmas and before the new 'festival' starts will only get to see 5 floats.....

Aw boooooo - if this is still the case in mid-March when I go next, I'll have to find a new spot to watch the parade - and there will be loads more people trying to cram onto Main St and round the hub/bandstand to see it . I was really looking forward to seeing the parade stops as well, as we didn't see them in Halloween season.

Guess who'll have their fingers and toes crossed that the Fantasyland floor gets refurbed ahead of schedule????

But our priority is getting all the rides we havent gotten round to done. i feel robbed just a wee bit all the same

dont blame u elaine!! i am just hoping they keep the music, but it sounds like changes are 'afoot' so to speak, so, am now wondering what will actually be changed, and how it will be! not sure on the being able to interact with characters...... as surely that will be completely out of control?!?!?! waiting with baited breath on all this!

ok so its looking like my march trip is going to suck. we love watching the parade. now not only will parts of it be missing but also there will be tons of people trying to cram into a small space ugh

i cant believe they are doing it - but assume they know what they are doing maybe weather will be superb for u?

well at least i am getting a good deal so its not all bad

it could be worse they could cut it altogether and i suppose at least i will be able to see it twice in the one day

I'm ok with this...no stress, no stress, its for the best at the end of the day... updating and refurbing...it has to be done...we've all seen the 'people that love Florida' come on and slate our disney because its faded, its peeling, it dirty, yabba yabba yabba........we can't have it both ways

Boo, just saw the villains float will be gone. That's a shame I thought that was a great one!

I'll forgive them if it means they are working on an awesome Fantasia float to tie in with the new Mickey's Magical Moments Festival, or even the Steamboat Willie float coming back.

I have to say the Villains float was looking a bit worse for wear. Not usually one for noticing stuff around the park as `I have my disney-tinted specs firmly on when I'm there, but his year i did notice that Ursula's tenticles were a bit battered and holey!!!! The rest looked pretty splendid tho. I love OUAD ....and I still get a lump in my throat when the song comes on my kids' stereo at home!!!!.....but it's been going for quite some time now.

I think there is usually only about 8 floats, so not many being taken out. I'm assuming it will be the bigger ones that will be taken out

The missing ones will be -
Alice in Wonderland & Pinocchio,
Lion King & Jungle Book
and Ariel and Jasmine on the first Princess float.

I was just like you Katrina when I first read this - but then I thought hmmm, with such a major refurb going on and undoubtedly limited access to such a large part of Fantasyland while they re-lay the floor there, maybe DLP will have more characters about in the other parts of the park, more often, while this is going on? Kind of a distraction tactic?
