Newport, Rhode Island

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Newport, Rhode Island? My brother wants to honeymoon there and doesn't know where to stay. Any good ideas? TIA!

There is a nice Marriott there, right downtown, very convienient location. Also, there is, I believe, a Grand Hyatt hotel on what is called Goat Island, which is just across a little causeway from downtown Newport. We have had Sunday brunch there many times, and it is very nice. There are also lots of B & B's there, too. I went on my honeymoon there, too, but I'm divorced now, so don't go by that, lol!

I just got back from Newport. The Hyatt on Goat Island looked pretty nice. I was there for a convention. It does have lovely views of the water. I stayed at the Marriott on America's Cup Avenue and it was very nice also.

The Inn at Castle Hill has recently been refurbished and is supposed to be quite nice. If he doesn't need to be right in Newport, I'd also suggest the Bay Voyage Inn in Jamestown. It is just across the bridge and it is really nice and quite romantic. Newport is a lot of fun.

Thanks for the great ideas! He has seen pictures of the Vanderbilt Hall Hotel and is wondering if it's as nice in person as it is in pictures. Anyone know?
