Which beach do you think DS7 and DD6 would like the most?

Newport Beach?

Huntington Beach?

Other?

We're staying near DLR next week, and we have a rental car.

Thank you, in advance.

I voted Newport but it depends a bit on what you want. Is it only playing in the sand? Or does it include boardwalks, piers, shops and restaurants, etc.? I think beach wise the two are pretty close. I have spent many days at both. My grandparents lived in Huntington Beach for many years. But I like Newport a little better because there is more stuff there. :)

Check out Laguna Beach, it's just a bit further south than Newport. Huntington Beach is second choice, it's fun but I prefer the water in Laguna better. I'm a So. Cal. native who used to live 8 miles from Laguna. Now I live in South Texas. Just shoot me! Have a wonderful time!

What, the Gulf Coast doesn't meet your standards, coming from CA?? I live in Texas too...I don't set foot on the coastline since the last time I went there and spent an hour wading through seaweed and choking on the ghastly fishy smell. Blech!

When I was a kid we used to spend a week in Newport Beach every summer. We had a great time there. I have never really been to Huntington but I can tell you that as kids we thought Newport was awesome.

Yes I had the same experience as you did, hence the California dreaming! :-)

Newport Beach has gentler waves, and you can easily rent boogie boards for them there or bikes to ride along. If you go bike riding, you can bike over to the ferry that will take you over to Balboa Island for a $1 or $2, and ride over there, too. The channel that is right there is the one filmed for Gilligans Island (3 hour tour ... 3 hour tour...)

As kids we loved going to Newport Beach. No huge waves, you can go out forever in the water and it's clearer and cleaner, and we loved watching the fishing boats come in and you can walk through and see them selling fish and cleaning them. You pay quarters in parking meters there and sometimes hard to find a spot. At Huntington it's a fee for the whole day an plenty of parking.

The kids would like Newport Beach.
