This may sound like a dumb question, but is anyone else concerned about some of the resorts that have been closed all year and are scheduled to open this summer, ie: WL, Poly and BC? I'm booked for WL and have a minor concern that due to being closed so long, there may be issues with maintenance and with bugs that may not have been addressed all year long. Am I overthinking this?

WL has been undergoing refurbishment. Plus the Copper Creek side has been open.

Poly will also open with brand newly refurbished rooms.

As for Beach Club - I'm sure they will have housekeepers in the rooms before opening.

We were at YC shortly after reopening and I suspect (although don’t know for sure, and it could have been occupied by NBA for all I know) that we may have been the first guests to stay in our room. The room was fine as far as cleanliness, but did have a bit of a stale/musty/not lived in smell to it that was mainly around the HVAC intake unit by the door, enough that we called for service. I really don’t know what the source was, but part of us thought maybe some mildew influence in the unit.

But probably a not very common situation as Iots of rooms have reopened and I’ve not seen any similar complaints.

My concern would've been with the water that was just sitting around getting stagnant in the pipes and such, especially at a resort that wasn't connected to a DVC resort. However, since we have not heard massive reports of people getting sick from the water at WDW, that concern has gone away.

From someone in the hospitality industry, we have very strict rules to follow when it comes to hotels that are closed (regardless of the reason). Hotel engineers (usually, but sometimes housekeeping or other depts depending on the ownership group) go through closed hotels flushing toilets, running water, etc. for a specific specified amount of time in every room on every floor per strict instructions. My co. was alternating odd and even floors every day. We are all (in hospitality) very concerned about Legionnaires' Disease - Disney included - and are doing more than our best to make sure our places of work (and livelihoods) are safe for all: guests AND employees. You will be fine. Enjoy your vacation!
