My DH and I just found out that we are expecting our 2nd baby! :cool1: We will be leaving for our previously planned trip to the world a little over a week from now! That will put me at between 7-8 weeks on our trip. We had been hoping for another baby, but were not necessary expecting this! Does anyone have any tips for traveling to Disney in your first trimester?

We have a 2 year old, so I figure I will be ok riding pretty much anything that he can ride. I didn't have any morning sickness with my first pregnancy, so hoping for the same with the second!

Thanks in advance for any advice :goodvibes

Rest when you are tired, eat whatever you want, soak in the sun, drink lots, and enjoy the last trip with just one:).

Congratulations :goodvibes We went to Disney this past May and I was around seven weeks pregnant during the trip. I agree with pp who said to rest when you are tired. I was tired a lot and unfortunately was not up to staying up late for night shows/fireworks, etc. so we skipped those on this past trip. I am glad we went when we did though because our trend for Disney has been to go every two years so when we go back the baby will be around 16-18 months old. I am also glad that we went during my first trimester because those discomforts started to surface as my pregnancy progressed and I can't imagine doing all that walking around the parks along with trying to keep up with our four children in the parks further into my pregnancy; although I have read several success stories of other moms who had great Disney trips at 28 weeks pregnant and even later. I am almost 32 weeks now and it is hard for me to walk around more than a few steps at a time at this point  I didn't have the heavy morning sickness I had with my prior pregnancies but I found that eating a protein rich breakfast and small snacks throughout the day helped me a lot with the nausea. I would definitely recommend making a conscious effort to drink plenty of water and rest/take breaks (or even a nap) when you feel the need to. As far as rides are concerned, I sat out of several rides that DH and our kids went on (Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, BTMRR, Space Mountain, Rockin' Rollercoaster) because I just didn't want to take any chances even though I was rather early in the first trimester and this is baby #5 for us. I still did Soarin', Toy Story Midway Mania, Star Tours, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Kilimanjaro Safari along with the tame stuff (It's a Small World, Dumbo, Little Mermaid ride, Nemo ride, Gran Fiesta Tour, Spaceship Earth, 3D shows, etc.) because I felt those would be fine based on my knowledge of how those rides are from past experience. Hope you have a magical trip and wonderful pregnancy!

Congratulations! I've gone to Disney World twice in my second trimester, but -- for me, at least -- my second trimester tends to go more smoothly than my first.

In my first trimester, I am always exhausted, and with this pregnancy I had morning sickness, which I did NOT have with my first son. It wasn't unbearable, but it was definitely new to me. Just do what everyone is saying: keep hydrated, get lots of rest and go at a comfortable pace. (I wish I could say "eat what you want," too, but that isn't always easy in early pregnancy. Unfortunately. ;))

Have fun!

That is why I said do it (eat what you want). If she is hungry and can eat, eat:)

I went while 9 weeks pregnant and although it was fun because it was Disney, it definitely affected the trip. I had bad morning sickness- I didn't enjoy the food and threw up in lots of bathrooms- I joked with DH about taking a picture of each one for our scrapbook. I fell asleep at like 8 pm every night, DH went to the park alone afterwards (we had no other children) or just enjoyed walking the resort.

Hopefully it will be better for you.

I agree with the others, I think your biggest hurdle will be how your body reacts to this particular pregnancy. If your are feeling fine you will have a great trip. I went to Disneyland for 3 days at around 6 weeks and spent the majority of the time feeling exhausted looking for the nearest bench to sit on. Not to much morning sickness at that point, but the exhaustion was terrible. I hope you feel great and have a wonderful trip, but go in with the mindset that you will need to do more resting than normal.

Make sure you have well fitted and very supportive bras. That first trimester can lead to tender and swollen breasts, so excellent foundation garments are a must.

I always keep a quart ziplock (NOT generic) bag with me in the first trimester. I have only had to puke in it a couple times when I could not get to a bathroom, but it was very appreciated.

Congratulations!! :cheer2:

I've traveled to Orlando twice while pregnant (June and January). My recommendation is WATER and nap with your little peanut! That was probably my only issue - getting enough water. I always found that CMs were very nice about helping me find (or even just giving me) plenty of water if I ran out.

In terms of rides - I did ride more than I expected I could. Which was awesome. We did a lot of character meet and greets too.

Happy Planning!
