The allergist confirmed today that DS is allergic to peanuts. It seems mild and we'll know more when we get RAST numbers back. Because we haven't seen any issues with being near peanuts and I haven't been tracking labels for "made in the same facility", the allergist wants me to keep doing what we've been doing--avoiding ingesting them but not stressing too much about avoid their existence.

He's absolutely fine with tree nuts and has a Larabar everyday for a snack.

I called the Disney Dining line and had them had the peanut allergy to our ADRs. The CM needed a bit of convincing that I really, really, really was sure she didn't need to add tree nuts. Oddly our dessert party reservation had us listed as a sesame allergy! Nope, not us.

Are there table service or counter service places that we should avoid because they just don't handle peanut allergies well?

Thanks!

Last trip I was allergic to peanuts (including cross contamination), eggs and shellfish. This coming trip I have those 3 allergies plus about 8 more newly diagnosed allergies (tree nuts, eggs, and peanuts are all cross contamination)

With the original 3 allergies we did not have any issues with any places we ate. The only places we avoided were beaches and creams and Ohana but that is because my allergy is so severe that we just didn't want to chance it. I never went hungry so no loss for me.

It should be pretty simple and straightforward because it is such a common allergy. That is the allergy that most places are familiar with. Especially if it is mild and cross contamination is not a concern.

My dd is allergic to peanuts and all tree nuts. Like you she just can't ingest them (although this week she broke out in hives while using pb for cupcakes). The only thing she really has to avoid is most desserts at Disney.

We just came back from 5 nights at Disney. It was myself, DD8, my friend and her DD9. Her DD9 was just diagnosed with peanut and tree nut allergies. It is mainly ingestion except for cashews and almonds. Those she has to worry about cross contamination.

She ate at Contempo Cafe, Boma, The Wave, Askershus, HDDR, Cosmic Rays, Dole Whip, CS at POP, and numerous other CS and snack stands without a problem.

At all the TS restaurants, the chef came out and spoke to her as well as me (gluten allergy).

She had very little limitation as to what she could eat...and most was obvious but we still talked to the chef.

Ironically, I was more limited to what I could eat because of the gluten then what she was limited to due to her peanuts/tree allergy.

OP- you'll be fine at WDW! Lots of us have allergies and dine just fine at the world :thumbsup2

Check the link in my siggie- there's a link to the food allergy picture thread and I think there are peanut allergies included. Also, join us over on the DISAbilities board- you'll get some great advice!

The biggest issue is that for most of the baked goods and many of teh prepackaged items they have the cross contamination warning. You can buy these without asking at your own risk but if you are at a restaurant they won't serve them to you. So for example even if your son is eating a Micket rice krispy treat every day but you tell a restaurant he has a peanut allergy they won't serve it because of the nut warning. SO if anything they are more protective. It's not hard to get food but it is frustrating with all the yummy looking baked goods that don't have nuts just that darned warning ;P Typically they'll give allergy kids ice cream with toppings which makes most kids happy.
