I will try to keep my questions organzied. I do tend to ramble.

1) We just booked today room 2630. I have seen some talk on this room but no answers. Can anyone supply input on this location. There will be 4 of us, DH, 2 DS's (6&3).

2) We are cruising on points. We are in a position of use or lose and DH wanted a change from Disney World. The excursion money will be tight. What are your best suggestions of what to do and where to go on your own. Also, is there anything I need to be aware of if I do stuff on my own.

3) I am going to keep calling to see if I can get midship. The CM also suggested checking the Disney Website for availability and calling them to see if I can change. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to do this. How often do you call to check on a change of rooms?

Any input would be great. We have never cruised before.

Thanks.

We too are cruising for the first time oct 9th, best advice scour these boards, we booked using dvc and on a budget and have skipped all of dcl's own excursions to do our own and saved $$

Key West - shirley on these boards will tell you all you need to know - we are taking our own walking tour with maps etc cost - free saving $60 , visiting ripleys ( coupon on website ) back to boat for lunch then visiting mallory square for the free sunset celebrations, then back to ship for late dinner.

GC - Stingray Snorkel / 45 mins snorkel and 45 mins stingray sandbar with nativewaywatersports.com including refreshments - cost $70 ish , saved $110 on the one i'd planned with dcl.

Cozumel - Minigolf $7 pp , then taxi to paradise beach $10 entrance free, water icebergs, games, beach, floats, kayaks etc all free ( see their website ) saving $$$$$$

Castaway Cay - Relax - Free.

Hope that helps , have a great trip

I know you're on eastern special itinerary but gives an idea of what can be done, also check out cruisecritic.com, www.castawayclub.com and dcltribute.com for a ton of information Oh yeah , i forgot room 2630 is deck 2 near the back of the ship , i understand it's a great location for avoiding seasickness, it's handy for the restaurants and for disembarking for shore excursions that's about all i can tell you though

Traycie

Since Traycie seems to be on the Western the week before, I will assume you are cruising the Eastern leg :)

That being, this is the main website for St Thomas: http://www.usvi.net/usvi/stt.html

It is a United States Territory, so everything will be somewhat familiar for you. They use the same stamps, money, drive on the right side of the road, speak english, etc. If you see something on the site that interests you, you can write (or maybe email) the chamber of commerce or Dept of Tourism, just like you might if you went to New York, San Antonio, or San Francisco.

Cataway Cay, I am sure you are not too worried about. I have never been to St Martin, so a regular beach tour sounds safe or a taxi ride betwen the two sides for a half day of shopping (ie taxi to the French side for a morning tour, then back to have lunch and an afternoon on the Dutch side.

Just some thoughts.

No input....but I did want to invite you over to the October 16 cruise meet board  . We have a lot of nice people going on this cruise, go on over a meet them!
