Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

I already have a BJ's rewards membership, that's where I'll be nuying baby "consumables" -- so every 6 months I get a "check" (coupon really) for use in the store for like 2% of the last 6 months' worth of purchases. Sometimes it's almost 100 bucks back (to use at the store.) It more than covers the additional membership fee.

I think we may switch to that one. We've had the regular membership forever and with the baby stuff, I think we should definitely make the change. Thanks for reminding me!

:thumbsup2 I saw my Dr on Monday, before the baby started really kicking me and she asked about movement. i told her I had felt some flutters, but I wasn't sure. I told her I was trying to enjoy the kick-free life while it lasted since everytime she tries to hear the heartbeat, the little one is doing some sort of dance routine and doesn't like to stop moving.

I think he/she heard me since about an hour later the kicks started and lasted a solid 3 hours. It feels so weird!!

Wow! Three hours? How cool! I bet it's really neat though, to feel your little one moving around in there :goodvibes My next appointment is March 17th and I'll be 20 weeks by then so I am hoping I'll have started feeling the kicks by that point.

Well ladies, I am off to work where I'll be till 10 tonight. Oh joy :headache: Hope everyone has a great day!

I think it was the Pop Tarts I had for lunch! :scared:

It is a really cool feeling! But it's also so weird. The baby is so low and feeling the kicks down there is just messed up! (In a good way.)

I think I'm feeling things pretty early. Most of my books said first time moms don't feel anything until closer to 20 weeks, so don't worry, I'm sure your time is coming!!

Probably 9DPO, but I would always start getting morning sickness at 3DPO (which of course didn't end for weeks and weeks).

Did you use OPK's? I actually tested with that first and the line was darker than with the HPT.:thumbsup2

I do use OPK's. I ran out though because I use the Internet Cheapie ones! I used breastmilk on a IC HPT today and it was postive!! However I know of many girls who got positives with breastmilk and were not pregnant!! I am way too early anyway.

What do all these abbreviations mean? And BFP? Let me in on the lingo please!

I tested when I was 4 days late (should have started 10/1, tested 10/5 with a +!)

We weren't trying, though, so my missed period was my only sign. I wasn't even taking the testing too seriously, as I'd not had a period for the entire summer thanks to my screwed up birth control pills... the test was just a precaution my Dr. told me to do before I started taking the pills again.
Good thing, though! :goodvibes

I felt him first, for sure (like you, I'd felt flutters but didn't know for SURE), on Christmas night. My OB said it was probably because of all the excitement (especially with my brother flying into surprise everyone!) and so when I finally sat down.. I was feeling the babies increased movement from my adrenaline rush. Thought that was interesting! I was 17wks3days. :thumbsup2

...ETA...

Oh, now I'm totally excited! DH works on a floor full of women and said that his manager came up to him today and said "Your wife is pregnant, right?" and he said "Yes" and she asked when I was due. He told her the first week of June and she said "Oh! That is soon! Can she take a day off of work?" and he told her I could... and they're going to throw me a goodie day/baby shower! I've never even met them!
She told Tom it'll be "Bring your pregnant wife to work day" and they're throwing us a little party with gifts. Too cute!
I have to get a temporary security pass, though. Cracks me up. Federal Government for you.. :rotfl:

Patsy - That's pretty cool about your Dh's work. They must really care about him (and you!)

BFP - Big FAT (or another word if it's negative!) Positive
DPO - Days Past Ovulation
HPT - Home Pregnancy Test
OPK - Ovulation predictor kit

Okay, thanks. I'm down with the lingo now. Until you guys spring another one on me. :rotfl:

So they say you can test 3 days before ., right? So 5DPO would mean you would test... when? Another week?

I was shocked about his coworkers but think that is totally cool! She said the lady asked him what big ticket items we still needed (Pack N Play is all) and YELLED at him for buying stuff and told him he better stop :rotfl:
I never thought people would yell at me for buying stuff... but so far, quite a few have!!

DMickey - I got a very faint, possibly evaporation, line on 11 DPO and then a definite positive (on digital too) at 12 DPO.

What do you guys think of these names?
Aubrey Catherine
Ainsley Elizabeth
Teagan Rose (or maybe Teagan Kate)

I know they are a little different, but what do you think? Do you have a favorite, a least favorite?

Thats what I thought! I love that name. My brother did an after school program in college and had a little girl with that name, she was a doll!

I vote for that one-- so unique but pretty and classic, too. It'll grow well with her. I also love Elizabeth.

....tip someone gave me today for those having showers in the next few months..

Easter stuff is the same basic colors used for showers.. and much cheaper! WalMart has whole sections of candy by color. Pass the tip along to whoever is doing your shower-- solid color pastel plates bought in the easter aisle are much cheaper than baby shower stuffs!
I told my mom and she said she hadn't thought of it either, but went to compare prices and the tip was spot on. Easter cheaper than baby shower stuff.

Wow, you all have been chatty lately. :goodvibes See I didn't get on after dinner last night, went to bed at 8 when my son did & this AM had like 4-5 pages to get through.:lmao:

So staley, did you ever come up w/ an estimate for a month's worth of diapers? Conservative estimate for mom I'd say, 8 diapers a day x 2 babies x 30 days = 480  or a couple of the BJ's/Costco size boxes.

A woman on my twin boards said she is using up to 25 diapers in a day. So I am figuring about a case a week or so.. Maybe 5 cases in a month. Walmart cases.. We only have a costco, and they cont sell ity bitty diapers.

Hi ladies, I will keep this brief cause this is a happy board a place to share all of our excitement and love of being pregnant.

A few nights ago my water broke at 19 weeks. They had to induce me and I lost my baby. It was little boy. He didn't make it through the contractions and died before he was born. Early in my pregnancy I had a blood clot between my placenta and the baby and my doctor thinks it weaken my amnino sac causing the water to break too early. He was beautiful, 8 ounces and 8 inches long. I know he is in Heaven now and that God has a purpose for everything he does and I trust Him with that. I know He will get us through this and in His time we can try again, hopefully with much happier results

I am so happy for all of you ladies on this board and I wish you and your babies all the blessings in the world. Thanks for the advice and listening when I thought my aching joints and bones were the worst thing that could happen to me during my pregnancy.

 I am so sorry for your loss. May God give you and your family the strength to get through this.

If you ever need to talk, I'm here.

I can't imagine how it feels but feel free to talk about it (pm me if you just need to vent... I know I'm a stranger but my friends said that I'm a good listener).
Your beautiful baby boy is an angel now... :cloud9:
I hope you're recovering well and I'll keep you in my prayers.

I am almost through with my GD test! It hasn't been so bad. My nurse is a friend from high school (my best friend's sister) and she is taking good care of me. They were behind (there have been tons of layoffs there and they are now understaffed) so my 1st draw was at 9:15, then I had to immediately drink the orange stuff. I stayed until 10:15, for the 2nd draw. The waiting room is so packed that I ran home before the 11:15 draw, and again now before the 12:15 draw. The nurse put in a line (don't know what it is called) so she only had to stick me one time. It is aggravating me right now, but so much better than having to be stuck over and over. My 4th and final draw is only 45 min away, so it is almost over. And dh is going to be waiting at a little restaurant here in town at 12:20 with our order ready to go (I hope!). We have to be a dd9's play at 1, so I won't have much time. I'm so hungry I'm sure it won't take me long to eat!
