YAY!!!!!!
Welcome to the worries, backpains, morning sickness and everything else that's FUN!!!!! :rotfl:

Welcome and congrats to you and your Mrs.!!!! Great news!!!:cloud9:
Like CSECA said welcome to the worries, backpains, morning sickness, and everything else. Just be patient with your wife it is certainly and emotional rollercoaster at times but all worth it in the long run.

Sbell111- I'm so glad to hear that everything is going well!

Here is a question for you ladies- did all of you have your blood drawn and you HcG levels checked early in pregnancy? I'm asking because my doc hasn't. We're in the military medical system so it might be different, but I was very shocked when I called to call them I had a positive pregnancy test and they just had me come in and do a urine test. I was expecting something more exciting, I can take urine tests at home! My 1st "meeting" is on March 24th, its not an appointment, and I'm not sure what the meeting will entail, but everything is new right now so I'm sure I'll figure it all out. I just wish I could get some confirmation that everything is going swimmingly. I'm such a worry wart and these pregnancy books aren't helping! DH has threatened to take them away from me! Oh well, I guess that would just give me more time to obsess over our next trip, which has sorta been shifted to the back burner since I took the positive test.

My first appointment was just a nurse information session. She had me fill out hospital paperwork, discussed vitamins, and the do's and don't's while pregnant.

At my second appointment with the actual doctor, they did do urine and blood test. My Dr. office doesn't even have you come in until the 8-10 week mark. With my first pregnancy, I couldn't believe this.

Don't drive yourself crazy with the books.

With my first pregnancy, they had me come in for labs..2nd nope, just went in at 8 week mark. so it depends on the MD.

We had a positive at-home test last Thursday. On Monday, Cathy called the doctor's office and they had her come in (at her leisure) to have her blood drawn. She wasn't scheduled to see the doctor. We just saw a nurse who sent the blood out for hCG and progesterone.

The progesterone was fine, but hCG was lower than we thought that it should be, based on the baby books and internet info that we've been dumping into our heads in vast quantities. Of course, the nurse felt that the levels were perfectly fine, but we paid for a second test to avoid having to worry for nearly three weeks until our first 'actual' appointment where they will no doubt start the serious poking and groping.

I had mine checked because of bleeding early in the pregnancy. They wanted to make sure that the baby is still viable. Before that they didn't even mentioned getting it checked. Basically the office said that positive pregnancy test is accepted as definite pregnancy... They didn't even need me to do urine test at the office... :confused3

:rotfl: I was the same with our cancelled trip to WDW. We were supposed to have a re-do of our honeymoon (I got horribly sick during our wedding/honeymoon at WDW) and our little bean shows up and I was too miserable to even contemplate vacationing. So we decided to save the $ and just go with the little one after he/she decides to pop out :thumbsup2

I said ifI'm having a girl!! :teeth: I won't know until next Friday. :thumbsup2

Wow, I remember you telling me two weeks but this week has flown on by!
You must be getting super excited! My ultrasound was two days after my OB ordered it, but I know those two days were some of the longest!!

Can't wait to find out if its Lilliana or Tyler! :woohoo:

Any word from TrueEeyore? Someone posted that she delivered on 3/17 ...I think she was due April 5th ... wonder if they were ready???

Baby Elie was 5 days early from c-section and I know we weren't ready.

I haven't heard from her, but she was scheduled for an induction 3-30 because she had gestational diabetes.

From what I've gathered from her threads, Heather was a planner and she's probably had everything ready for awhile!

Hopefully she pops in soon and shares some pictures! :)

I got a + on Sunday morning (I would have been 5+wks at the time), called my regular Dr. and requested a blood draw, went Monday afternoon, they called me Tuesday morning and said "Are you sitting down?" I said "Yes" and they said "It's positive! Don't take anything- vitamins, prescriptions, etc, until you talk to an OB."

I picked my OB, they wouldn't see me until 8 weeks. First appointment was just like a lot of other people said- I met with a nurse, they gave me a list of stuff I could take, gave me a due date based off of my LMP, a bunch of pamphlets, a copy of "What to Expect When You're Expecting", etc...

Met with the Dr. at the next appointment, at 10 weeks, for an entire internal exam and to hear the heartbeat! Had blood drawn that day but she told me the reasoning was to test for HIV, Blood Type and a whole other slew of STD's. I had to sign a special release for the HIV test.

Other than the glucose draw, those were the only two blood draws. And my first test from my regular Dr. was never sent to my OB.

Hi,
Have fun reading the books, but try not to worry about every little thing. Stressing out over what the books call normal can drive you crazy! We did not have any blood tests to confirm the pregnancy. I called and told my OB that I had a positive test. She said to call and make an appointment for 8 weeks after LNMP and they would do all the testing then. Since that was our 1st pregnancy they did a full family medical history, a urine test, and an internal ultrasound. We got to see the baby and hear the heartbeat that day. DS was measuring a little smaller than how far along I should have been so a week later they did another IUS and said the timing matched the due date fine. He was born on the exact day we predicted, but 1 week early according to the doctor's date.

Waiting to see or feel something can be the hardest part. Getting sick everyday this time around for me (as silly as it seems) sort of reminded me that everything was going ok. I also read just about everything the 1st time around there was and it drove me nuts after a while. So, I got a journal that more or less gave information about what was happening everyday instead. It was fun reading what was going on everyday versus: here's how things are going and what could be going wrong.

The Pregnancy Journal; A Day-To-Day Guide to a Healthy and Happy Pregnancy

Plus, you can number the pages to your due date. I remember reading at day 49 that DS had arms as big as the #1 in the book printing. We also got a pregnancy calendar which was fun to mark with all the milestones (morning sickness, first movement, kicks, showers, etc). Having a trip to plan can help the time go by for sure! :thumbsup2

Yeah...alot of docs don't do anything really the first few visits except blood and urine... They will wait sometimes til 10-12 weeks to attempt to hear the heartbeat, and some later (16-20 wks) to do an ultrasound (unless you opt for the 11-12 week testing)....
Don't let it worry you....I know you want to know EVERYTHING, but they seem to know what they are doing :lmao:

I can't believe you remembered my name choices! You are so cool!

My appointment is at 8:30 Friday morning. DH and I will probably go register afterwords, but I'll come on sometime that afternoon to tell you all!

Yipee, the furniture is in and it is beautiful!!! I kept telling my husband that it looks like something out of a magazine. There is still a ton to do. My MIL is making her curtains, she is a wonderful quilter. I am very lucky. I need to get an area rug and the chandelier still needs to go up. I still need to buy a bookcase and things for the walls. I still have my old toy box from my childhood, it still needs painting. Can't forget the nicknacks! And a lamp. I better get busy!!!!:cloud9:

So I got the book Baby Bargains and I'm messing with their message boards right now and they are AWESOME!! They use vBulletin like the dis, which is by far the best software. They have a bunch of links to sites that have deals of the day that are all baby related and links to freebies and coupons. It's awesome!

OK, I've resigned myself to no nursery:sad2: , but I'm rearranging my room this week. Dd9 and I looked at one furniture store this morning for her a new dresser, but nothing. We are heading to a nicer store this afternoon. I'm ready to find her one, so we can get her clothes moved and I can start arranging Katie's clothes and see what I have in each size.

I decided to do a lidded garbage can instead of a diaper genie, and happened to walk by the clearance aisle at Walmart this morning. I got dd9 some Hannah Montana sheets for $5 (marked $27) and a blanket for $3.50 (picked up an extra for the next birthday party she is invited to). All of her stuff is princess, and she says she is too old:sad1: . But my biggest find was a Princess garbage can with the lid (the kind with the lever you step on to open) for $12. They had 4 or 5 different kinds. It is a very sturdy looking can. It is small, but we'll be emptying it every night, so I think it will be perfect!princess:
